English Version:
I've been living in the quarter for over twenty years and have occasionally gone to Café Schmitz because it promised a bit of charm away from the so called system gastronomy.
Today the three of us entered the shop and sat down at a table with five seats. The café was half empty and right next door another big table was free.
Immediately an employee, at the most in his early 20s, came hurrying to tell us that we should sit down at a three table, because the table we were sitting at would be reserved for larger groups as a precaution.
Since we saw no point in squeezing ourselves to the three tables, although there were still tables free everywhere, I explained to him that we could sit away as soon as a larger group appeared. He disappeared without a word.
Shortly thereafter his colleague of a similar age came and began to point out to us again that the table was reserved for larger groups. I interrupted him and tried to convince him that we had already settled the matter. Then he spoke to me with a saying that one could have expected from his authoritarian father: "There is no discussion".
We left the café immediately. I have rarely experienced such unfriendly, stupid and narrow-minded behaviour towards customers in a café.
That was the last time I entered Café Schmitz and I will recommend everyone to avoid a visit. It's a shame about the café, but with such a code of conduct the chances are high that the shop will soon go bankrupt anyway.
It's a good thing that there are enough other cafés in the neighbourhood with friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere, such as the Textilcafé or...

We are so in love with this well run and fun establishment! Last Sunday we were so hungry and from out of town, and we came across this corner Cafe' Schmitz! After walking forever to find a place to eat, we were greeted by a darling gal that was so warm and wonderful! What a server! She was so on top of everything and helpful for we only speak English and she treated us so kindly and explained the items on the menu! I cannot tell you how joyous I felt after trying her recommendation when I said I liked Bolognese Spaghetti but that their menu item said it was Vegetarian. She said, "you'll love it! Its so good!" So, I took her recommendation and wow!!! It was so delicious! I literally licked the plate clean in seconds...! It truly is a wonderful restaurant and has my highest recommendation! Thanks for a magnificent experience!...

Came here because of online recommendations. The staff for sure are super friendly with nice smiles and extremely helpful. The gentleman, who served me, helped me out on the German menu. He also provided lots of recommendations
Food-wise, the scramble egg with ham I ordered was hot and fresh, the bread was a bit tough (but I guess it’s German style), the salad is not the most ideal but nothing to...
