Very disappointing. Except for the view it has nothing (!) going for it. Cocktails poor quality. Expensive. Staff rude, stressed, disorganised. Bar manager extremely unprofessional. Very unpleasant atmosphere. In detail: The cocktails were terrible and on top of that expensive. They also had some in honour of other bars in Cologne, e.g. Seiberts and they were terrible. Amongst us in the group we tried several and each seemed even more disappointing. I have been to Seiberts many times and I think it ruins the name of Seiberts. If I was them, I would ask the Monkey Bar to disassociate themselves with Seiberts. There was one lady behind the bar who seemed friendly but unfortunately that didn’t change the taste of the cocktails. The bar manager Rastin Mahrou was apparently chosen for the position due to his experience and of course I cannot comment on his experience but I was deeply disappointed by his lack of professionalism that we experienced. When we asked to pay, the bill did not arrive for ages so we decided we’d stay and have another round. Then the bar manager suddenly asked us to pay up and demanded we move into a tight dark corner of the bar to make space for others (who hadn’t made any booking! I asked...). I guess from the bar manager’s perspective he could see we were nearing the end of our night but I do not think it is nice towards your customers to demand they move to different seats for no apparent reason (he could have just let us finish our last round of drinks), it’s not what I would call great management and I would reconsider his position if I was the hotel management. He was in particular not very friendly to my female friends in our group. He was talking to them in a very degrading manner and in a manner no man should talk to a woman. Bad experience overall. My boyfriend and I were looking forward to monkey bar as it was recommended to us and we were really disappointed with our time there. The service, to start, was terrible. Our server seemed to have no time for us and was quite rude and unhelpful. The atmosphere was not great but that was because the place was not busy. Our server took our drinks order very rushed and walked away when we asked about ordering food. Our drinks took 15 minutes to arrive and what made this worse was that our server got our order wrong and my boyfriends glass was filthy. My drink tasted nice in fairness, but it was not worth the price at all. When we finally got our waiters attention to order food, he said no and told us we should go to the restaurant next door, while the people beside us had food at their table.
