Peking am Dom | Chinesisches Restaurant Köln — Restaurant in Cologne

We were waiting for 20-30 mins just for them to take our order. After we placed the order and waited for 2 peking suppe, 1 fried wantan, 1 beef with black bean sauce and roasted pork belly and waited for 30 mins nothing arrived. We had to chase 2 different female waiters for our food because other tables already had their main order and we didn’t even have our 2 peking suppe. They kept saying 2 more mins and we had to ask them again and finally 2 soups arrived and after 10 mins another fried wantan and 2 main dishes I mentioned above. But they did not bring any plates nor rice for us. We waited because we thought they will bring the plates and rice for us but nothing after 10 mins. We asked again and they brought 1 plate first and another 2 plates and rice. Total time spent at the restaurant 2 hours. Eating time 20 mins max and waiting time was 1 h 40mins. For food taste, peking suppe is reasonably ok, but the beef with black bean sauce was very salty, the roasted pork...

We went here after searching for a restaurant in the area for over an hour. As Chinese tourists, we were longing for authentic Chinese food after almost a week of hard bread and sausages in Germany, and this place delivered! Even though it was completely packed, they were very honest and sincere with us even before we were seated. The food reminded us of home, and the rice was excellent: genuinely steamed, not made with a rice cooker. We loved it so much we came back the next night for dinner again! As a testament to how honest they were, my son had carelessly left his camera and its bag under the table as we were leaving. We only realized this the next morning and rushed back to the restaurant to find that they had kept the bag for over 12 hours after trying to run after us. Let me start by telling you the food we had was actually nice. However the overall experience wasn’t good! We ordered 4 items, 2 arrived then the waitress disappeared. We ended up having fried rice, sweet & sour chicken and two cokes - €34. OVER PRICED!!! Paid the bill with two €20 notes and again the waitress disappeared…. Didn’t return our change. On our way out let them know we was leaving but not received our change. The waitress was so rude and in a snappy tone informed me in Germany staff get tipped!! Which I understand completely however I decide on how much I tip, depending on the service I receive. The lady quickly walked away which leads me to think she didn’t want other staff to know what she had done! Rude lady and she made our overall experience unpleasant. The food we had was nice!!!
