I had a delightful experience at Funkhaus Köln, the restaurant's location is conveniently close to Cologne HBh, just a 5-minute walk away. The place itself is beautiful with artistic decor, creating an enjoyable international atmosphere. The staff was friendly and welcoming. As for the treats I ordered, the machato lattes were as expected, nothing extraordinary, but still enjoyable. The real stars were the desserts: the chess cake was the best I've had in Germany, soft, not too sweet, and absolutely delicious. The chocolate soufflé with ice cream was a delightful combination, and the cherries added a lovely touch. chocolate soufflé was fresh and served hot from the oven. While the prices were a bit on the higher side, at 28 euros for my order, I understood that it was justified given the quality of the food and the ambiance. If you're willing to splurge for a wonderful dining experience, Funkhaus Köln is a fantastic choice. However, if you're on a tight budget, it might not be the most suitable option. Overall, I highly recommend trying their mouthwatering desserts and enjoying the unique atmosphere of the restaurant.

My partner and I were visiting Cologne, Germany for the first time and were excited to try the famous “German apple strudel.” Sadly, our experience at this restaurant was nothing short of a nightmare, and we left feeling frustrated and disrespected. We ordered the apple strudel, along with a coffee and a mint tea. From the moment our order arrived, things went downhill. I politely asked the waiter if we could get some extra sauce with the strudel, as the portion of sauce was extremely small. Her response was shocking—she bluntly said “no” in a rude tone. When I asked for an explanation, she walked away muttering, “I have to add it as an extra and ask the kitchen.” We waited for about 10 minutes without knowing if she had even asked the kitchen, so I decided to go inside and ask the bartender myself. To my surprise, another staff member chimed in and rudely said, “He already asked for it before,” repeating it several times as if I was being unreasonable. All this while, our food had gotten cold and we still had no extra sauce. Then, things took an even worse turn. When my partner started drinking her mint tea, she noticed white bugs floating in it! Completely disgusted, we asked the waiter for a replacement. Her response? “I don’t see anything, we wash these.” She dismissed the issue entirely, despite the bugs clearly being in the tea. We have attached a picture of the tea, trying to capture the bugs—while it was hard to get them all on camera, we did manage to capture one. Trust me, there were multiple, and it’s not just dirt, although it may seem that way. At this point, I also asked again about the extra sauce we had requested over 20 minutes ago, and she rudely replied, “What am I supposed to do about it?” That was the final straw. I asked to speak to the manager, but after waiting another 15 minutes, the manager never came. What’s even more frustrating is that no one ever bothered to apologize for the inconvenience. Instead, the same waiter returned, saying her manager was “too busy” but had heard her side of the story. After some back-and-forth, the waiter reluctantly agreed to remove everything from our bill except the coffee, but by then the entire experience was ruined. The service here is absolutely terrible—the staff are rude, unprofessional, and completely dismissive of their customers. They not only ruined our meal but also soured what was supposed to be a pleasant day in Cologne. We will never return to this place, and I strongly recommend avoiding it if you want to be treated with respect.

We came here for both breakfast and dinner on the same day, can highly recommend both! For breakfast we both had the eggs Benedict, extremely rich and decadent with a brioche bread and a hefty portion of avocado, good coffee too. The dinner was delicious, I had the caper sauce meatballs and my wife had an enormous chicken breast salad. Both dishes were packed with flavour and presented beautifully. Service was friendly and efficient considering they seem to be permanently busy with lots of table to attend to, food came out quickly. Would definitely be coming back here if we're in Köln again!

I always on the hunt of the perfect place to enjoy breakfast or brunch. So tadaaa!!!, today I was at Funkhaus CBR. I have been here before but only for coffee break. I reward 4 ⭐️ for the breakfast and the gentleman who served us. I compliment the breakfast menu as it has a lot to offer. We decided on the pancake and Benedict egg option. The table arrangement could have been adjusted a bit as it was a bit too narrow for guests to sqeeze in to their seats (my side) but who cares about my comfort ☹️ Nevertheless, just focus on the food and you will feel good 😅

Excellent place to relax, eat and drink I had an unexpected visited to Cologne arriving on a Sunday afternoon and needed some nice and not too costly to eat in the evening. I saw this bar/restaurant in the afternoon and decided to eat there in the evening. Lovely place. Efficient staff. Calm ambience and, in addition, the food was of an excellent quality at reasonable prices. I had the delicious spaghetti with lentil bolognese sauce, and a wonderful 'sharp' lemon tart. Half pint of beer, main dish, lemon tart + coffee came to 26 Euros. Highly recommended.

It’s really a nice place with a lot of tables inside and out with big and bright space. The food was standard, nothing to complain. Bartenders were nice and polite, I should gave a 5 stars rating as usually I do when I stay at a place next next to UNESCO site. I didn’t understand why it took so long for them to serve me. The breakfast didn’t look like difficult to prepare but it came more than 20 minutes after the coffee, then my coffee was already cold. It wasn’t at busy time and all the bartenders were doing their jobs.
