Cafe Extrablatt Dortmund — Restaurant in Dortmund

People were nice, the food was decent, and everything was well presented as is usual at Extrablatt. However, I must admit I wasn't expecting such behavior from one of the waiters. First, he dropped the client's chips on the floor and asked someone else to clean them up and deliver the chips he had dropped. He brought and collected glasses with his hands (the other employees were using trays) and finally asked for a €5 tip on a €19.40 meal when he didn't serve me nor took my order. The issue is not that he asked for a 20% tip; the problem is that I told him I couldn't and didn't want to tip, yet he insisted on a 10% tip. I don't speak German well, and he didn't speak English, but I made it clear that I wanted to pay exclusively what I owed and no tip. Yet he insisted, showing a €19.70 bill, and after about 3 minutes of discussion, I said 20, only to see the actual bill was just €19.40. This price included a beer, a nice fulfilling burger, and okay chips with 2 dips (usually you can choose them, but this time they didn't give me options and I was okay with that). However, I think this kind of behavior isn't acceptable for a professional. Ps.: He also sneered at me for no reason after I asked for a ticket, adding, 'Are you serious?' from experience most people working for Extrablatt are nice but this was...

10:30 am. We order: Milchkaffe und Bròtchen (my bf), and Eiskaffe und Torte (me). Brötchen come after few minutes and they are well loaded with brie, Milchkaffe comes after 40 min and it's nice and large. My Order?? I got nothing. How hard is it to cut a slice of cake??? Or put coffe on icecream??. After 1 hour we paid and left. Walked 4 km west to a great spot that served us great fresh food in minutes! This place needs: a New management! You must re-train the kitchen staff 'cause they r clearly unable to put already made portions on a plate! And... yes, our Waiter was nice and fast, but he could only bring what the kitchen gives him. About the rest of the staff inside...they avoided eye contact when I politely complained... Your location is great, but....when half of us clients walks out.... think how much you Lose. RE-TRAIN your Manager...

Fantastic Experience at Café Extrablatt – Shoutout to Arbar!

I had such a great time at Café Extrablatt in Dortmund! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for anything from a casual coffee to a relaxed meal. But what really made the visit special was the outstanding service, especially from Arbar.

Arbar was incredibly friendly, professional, and attentive—he made sure everything was just right and always had a smile on his face. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and it makes a huge difference in the overall experience.

The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and the service was top-tier. If you're in Dortmund, Café Extrablatt is a must-visit, and if you're lucky enough to be served by Arbar, you're in for a real treat!
