We had dinner at Melina since we were wandering in the area and didn't want the typical German fare. Their menu appeared to be focused on seasonal and fresh ingredients in interesting combinations. They have a nice selection of mostly local area wines and we enjoyed a Philipp Kuhn 2022 Pinot Noir with our meal of white asparagus soup and a roasted calves liver. It is by far the best liver that I have ever had for its flavor, cooking technique and presentation. We had the desert of cream cheese fritters in cinnamon and apple with caramelized vanilla creme that we paired with a Diplomåtico Rum.

I had the seasonal specialty â BĂ€rlauch soup â and it was absolutely perfect. Food in Sachsen tends to be on the salty side, but thankfully not here! I appreciated having the option to add more salt if needed, though mine was seasoned just right.
What really stood out was the quality â fresh ingredients, no frozen or pre-made nonsense masquerading as restaurant food. The service was friendly and attentive too.
