Ramen Soul — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

So disappointed ☹️ We went on Thursday evening, the restaurant was fairly empty so we were served promptly. Two of us choose the coconut prawn ramen und I chose the chicken broth version with prawn. The taste was on all ramen was OK but usually with ramen you can create the level of spicy by adding fresh garlic or fresh chilli and more - and the restaurant DID NOT PROVIDE ANY. A true ramen bar would always have add ons with their main dishes. All we received a was a very „oily chilli looking like paste“ which was not spicy just oily. The waiter did not provide us with a single chilli has he said they don’t have fresh toppings??? A Ramen bar without fresh spices?

Therefore the taste for me was not great as the ramen was not spicy, it tasted quite salty and without the fresh add-ons this is not the place for me. The noddles were also quite thick and overpowered the balance in the ramen. Such a shame.

Lastly to sit in the restaurant, it is very frustrating in the cold weather when the door opens every two minutes for the Deliveroo, Lieferando and more drivers… they should be able to work out a system so it does not disturb...

I really enjoyed the food. It felt more unique than the usual westernized chinese fare in germany. I'm not using the word authentic, because I have no idea what actually qualifies as authentic chinese food.

The dishes that are called handmade actually look and feel handmade. Considering that, the prices are ok. It really depends on wether you choose something with only tofu and veggies, or duck and shrimp. (Non alcoholic-)Beverages are overpriced though!

The names of the dishes are also amazing!

The 4 stars in service is because there is a language barrier. So far I always got what I wanted, but I would be wary if you have any kind of allergy! The place is also very small, so you better get a reservation.

Were seated immediately after placing a reservation. Waited about 20 Minutes until we were able to order. They offered us a gluten free alternative for a dish on the menu and charged us about 2€ extra for it, which was reasonable for the amount of noodles. The drinks arrived about 30 to 40 Minutes one at a time and with the last drink also did the first dish. 2 out of three people were already half finished. None of the servers asked us if we were missing anything, even though they clearly looked at our table in confusion. The food was REALLY tasty. The best part were the homemade noodles.
