Restaurant Vossen — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

I’m not the type of person to go back and leave negative comments but this was a situation that definitely compelled me to share my experience. First off, the food… fantastic. This is not about the food.

I took a team of my employees out to Vossen to recap our European work trip, spend some time talking shop over dinner, and overall just enjoy our last night out before flying home the next day.

At first no problem. We ordered some beers, put in some small dishes to start and were enjoying the night. Shortly after, our waiter starts making some very awkward advances toward me. And look, I’m light hearted and can easily just brush off what’s intended to be a joke or some friendly banter. But when he started coming by and putting his hands on me, making very aggressive advances, and saying things I’m not going to put out publicly, it went way too far. It was really uncomfortable and weird.

I’d made a point to try and defuse the situation but it only got worse. Here I am trying to have some conversation with my colleagues and this waiter is hanging over me. Seriously weird. Even that, I can brush off.

What made things far more uncomfortable was when the waiter followed my colleague and I into the men’s room and started rubbing my shoulders while I’m taking a piss and making comments as he’s watching over my shoulder! Seriously! That happened.

As I’m paying the bill he even grabs my credit card and takes note of my name. I’ve been all over the world, am totally fine with some banter, but this was just so bizarre.

Bar tender and staff obviously saw what was going on. It was not much of surprise to them which leads me to believe this happens more than a few times.

We will definitely head elsewhere next year. If you’re reading this, I suggest...

Absolutely awful service.

We were left queueing outside for 30 minutes, my 7 month pregnant wife was kept waiting, standing to be sat down at one of the many empty tables available. There were another 3 groups of people waiting in the queue with us but about 6-7 empty tables for us all to be sat at. When we finally did get sat down nobody came to serve us for 20 minutes. We saw there were multiple tables who were sat down before us without even a drink, who knows how long they were waiting! There was just absolutely no organisation to how the waiting staff were working, one moment the woman on the bar was pouring drinks, then she leaves these drinks on the counter to go serve food and then a waiter will go and pour some drinks and take them to another table while the bar lady will go to another table to clear their drinks, nobody was taking the drinks on the counter to where they should be going!! Another waitress would be chatting for ages with a table even thoughtyere are tables waiting for their orders to be taken and a queue of people waiting outside. The male waiter this night was especially rude. Never even acknowledged us while we were queuing or waiting to be served. When we did try to get his attention he just walked past us shouting 'One moment!!' That was the last straw for us, we left that minute to another restaurant by Alex where we were sat down and served within 2 minutes. In fact we finished our meal quicker there, than it took us to be served here. If you find your self considering this restaurant don't bother, spend the extra 5 minutes to walk to Antoniushof bei Alex where they have the exact same menu in a quieter part of town and no obnoxious music but the staff will also actually serve you and...

Fabulous local food, excellent service and perfect vibe. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On a very brief trip here, I wanted something local and chilled but good quality. This was PERFECT. Even though I don’t speak German, they treated me like all the other locals who visited while I sat there. Ate a HUGE delicious meal of pork schnitzel, crispy potatoes (divine) and sauerkraut (as a substitute for salad, cause I am treating myself) and it was exactly what I wanted. I also had three large beers and it came to €34. I then sat and read my book for hours afterwards; the music was vibey but not distracting, the place was atmospheric but easy going and full of locals, and I couldn’t recommend this place enough for a relaxed but great quality evening in Düsseldorf 🍻 add this...
