Weird Space Café Friedrichstadt — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

worst cafe for doing work at. if you want to use your laptop or tablet you have to pay a fee just to be able to sit there. moreover the menu is relatively small compared to other cafes in düsseldorf and i’ve had better coffee in those cafes as well. if you like minimalistic aesthetics in cafes you are better of going to kioki (amazing drinks) and for a more homey atmosphere go to vnd (best interior). this cafe shows the end stages of capitalism, if you go to a cafe you already pay for foods and drinks there is no reason to pay more just to be able to work there. there are so many different cafes in düsseldorf with good food/drinks and a friendly atmosphere that let you work there without charging extra, just go there.

edit: i don’t know who misinformed you that most cafes prohibit laptops/ tablets because that is just not the case. i regularly go to cafes in düsseldorf and not one of them banned laptops/tablets (vnd, coco, kioki on weekdays, rotkäppchen, tomo, wakaba, lightroast, just to name a few :)). your argument is a pathetic excuse to charge more money. and yes, cafes are also working spaces whether you like it or not, if your customers pay money for drinks and food they should be able to work without an...

Weird Space Café Friedrichstadt has a very unique interior design but I thought it looked better on social media than in real life. It's indeed very instagramable and the concept of having two separated areas inside is great for remote work. BUT i found it to be a bit disappointing in terms of the coffee experience and knowledge of their staff. They do indeed sell great coffee like the one from Kawa Paris but unfortunately the hand brew they have on the menu is just a basic filter coffee brewed in advance. Bitte wieder Manko! Ich weiß gar nicht wo ich anfangen soll, ich dachte der Sinn der Umbaute ist die Verbesserung des Cafés. Vorher konnte man im Manko ganz entspannt UMSONST in toller Mid-Century Atmosphäre lernen und nebenbei einen Kaffee trinken. Jetzt muss man zahlen um dort seinen Laptop überhaupt auspacken zu dürfen. Fast 3€ für nur eine Stunde und knapp 18€ für einen Tag?? Gibt es in Düsseldorf nicht schon genug überteuertes Coworking? Die Steine die als Stühle dienen sollen sind total unbequem. Da hole ich mir lieber in einem anderen Café einen Kaffee und setze mich auf eine Bank am Fürstenplatz. Das extra Internet kann ich mir sogar bei meinem Internet Anbieter Buchen und somit auf das Wlan verzichten (und dabei noch Geld sparen lol). Schade dass ihr statt Studenten einen gemütlichen Raum zu bieten das Kapitalismus-Spiel mitspielt.

Wie wäre es damit: ändert euer Konzept doch einfach um und setzt den Kauf von einem Getränk voraus oder verlangt eine Art Mindestverzehr wenn ihr unbedingt Geld machen wollt.

Mein Fazit: Ihr habt aus einem tollen, gemütlichen Café einen umgemütlichen überteuerten weißen Raum mit Steinen als Stühlen gemacht (habe kein Problem mit dem minimalistischen Design, nur sollte ein Ort an dem man viel Geld für einen Sitzplatz bezahlt um dort mehrere Stunden zu verbringen wenigstens in irgendeiner Form gemütlich sein und nicht Rückenschmerzen verursachen.)

Einen Stern für die absurd starke Verschlechterung des Konzepts. Das Essen ist absolut okay aber die Preise sind ein wenig hoch angesetzt. Die Bedienung wirkte abwesend und apathisch - kann natürlich auch einfach ein schlechter Tag gewesen sein. Habe mich nicht wohl gefühlt mein Feedback vor Ort abzugeben.

Habe die Bewertung schon kurz nach Eröffnung abgegeben - sie ist aber nicht mehr aufzufinden. Als ich vor kurzem nochmal da waren um dem ganzen nochmal eine Chance zu geben habe ich leider keine Verbesserung...
