Ristorante Pavarotti — Restaurant in Erfurt

This was so far one of the most overrated Italian restaurants we've been to. I can't really understand the 5 star reviews. The food was not authentic at all, we didn't try their pizzas, maybe they are okay. The quality of the food is really bad, but the portions are quite large. We ordered chicken with Gorgonzola sauce, the sauce was mediocre, the chicken was so salty and the vegetables were probably frozen and tasted like cantine food. We also had a spaghetti Bolognese which was very bad. It seems as if they threw in some sour tomato sauce with minced beef, cooked it for 10 min and served it to us. Tiramisu was tasty. This used to be one of the best addresses in Erfurt (both, the restaurant before it moved here, and the traditional place that was here before). Unfortunately the service is now rather substandard, slow and not very friendly. The food is mediocre, especially when it is crowded. The menu offers way too many pizza choices, and little other Italian food. The pizza itself is rather dry and has no interesting palette. What appears to be a good choice for local cuisine basically is an unnecessary addition probably catering to the tradition of the house. It proves that you can't have it both ways without sacrificing the uniqueness of either. My friends and I recently visited this restaurant and left with mixed feelings. On one hand, the atmosphere was pleasant enough and the waitstaff were quite attentive, even though they could have taken the opportunity to ask if we were enjoying our meal. Unfortunately, the food itself fell short of expectations. The fries were disappointingly half-cooked, and the Pizza Margherita tasted like a Pizza Fromage. The spaghetti, laden with champignons and garlic, was overwhelmingly garlicky, and the overall presentation felt rushed and lacked care. While the service and ambiance showed potential, the culinary execution needs significant improvement to match the hospitality.
