If you are a tourist, DO NOT go here. I typically never leave reviews but I have never received such awful customer service in my life. I wanted to change my order from eggs with green sauce to fish with green and the waitress yelled at me in front of the whole restaurant saying I can’t change the order since it’s already in the system. Note that I asked for this change less than 1 minute after the original order and it became a big issue. You would think they would want more money for the fish especially with them knowing I am an obvious tourist. The food was okay but it wasn’t what I wanted so I was not satisfied. Then as I was leaving the restaurant, the waitress proceeded to yell at me again for having a water bottle in her restaurant and that water bottles are for campers. I ordered a glass of apfelwein with my meal so I do not know why she had to yell at me again in front of the whole restaurant that I can’t have my water bottle there after I paid for the service and while I was leaving the restaurant. She also mentioned the water bottle is for campers. Maybe it’s racism, but if you are a tourist or minority, DO NOT go here. There are plenty of other restaurants near by with local German food and more...
Read moreThis is one of a number of traditional German restaurants found in the neighborhood across the river from the delightful Altstadt (Old Town). We ate there three days ago and had great regional dishes (green sauce!). This and other nearby traditional restaurants cater to local residents and aren’t necessarily enthusiastic about tourists (hey, I’m from Florida, I get it). We went to the trouble of going there to get genuine regional German food, based on previous reviews. We know a little bit of German but had no trouble ordering etc. since our waiter communicated well enough in English. We were enthusiastic about trying the regional German food and were friendly, patient and didn’t pester the staff. I initially interpreted our waiter’s brusqueness as just being his personality, but observations of his interactions with other guests made me conclude he was just plain rude to us because we didn’t speak German and know German customs. And it wasn’t because they were busy: our table would have been empty if not for us. Bottom line: good German food, but non-Germans might encounter some staff “attitude”. We might look elsewhere next year...
Read moreIt has really nice German pub vibe. You’ll walk pass a busy street and as you turn left from the street there you will see the pub. It has both indoors and outdoor seating area. Me and my partner wanted to have German food and here we were. The customer service was really great. The gentleman was really nice to us and spoke in English and made us feel welcomed. Definitely learn German to get by as it is rude to expect everyone to know your home home country’s language or English.
The pricing was really good and the food is just goodness. We had Schweinebacken mit Kartoffelpüree & Salat ( Pork cheeks with mashed potatoes and salad) special of the day and Frankfurter Schiachplatte mit Sauerkraut & Brot with Apfelwein not your ordinary cider.
The tenderness of the pork, smoothness of the gravy and the creaminess of the mashed all went together.
Frankfurter sausage platter was good too my partner really enjoyed it and was looking forward to sausage platter.
I strongly recommend this restaurant for everyone if you...
