Arrived just past 13:30 hrs to a full house and was invited to grab any seat at the benches, but was informed that I might have to share (no problems). There were a few tables waiting to settle their bill, a few tables waiting to order and some in the garden that obviously had ordered and was waiting for their drinks. The 2 ladies, Ruth and Martina, are super women and have their teamwork and system down to an art. They never stop! Always with smiles and always on the move, systematically working through the tables on a FIFO system, circling back to ask if anything was ok. Amazing. I had the schnitzel with green sauce, dark bier and apple wine. Per the other reviews, it was juicy and full of flavour. The potatoes were also al dente and pan fried to a nice brown colour and delicious. A good restaurant made great by the fantastic staff. Absolute 💯. Highly recommended.

Excellent restaurant for the few hours I had in Frankfurt. I visited on a Friday night and was happy to sit in the back patio outside because the weather was nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Since I was in Frankfurt I had to try the schnitzel with green sauce and it did not disappoint. It was honestly on the best meals I had in Europe and had been to Paris and Lyon before that. I also tried the frankfurters and they were excellent too. The portion sizes for the price were excellent as well having just come from Switzerland. The one thing I did not like was the tipping option during payment - which I attribute mostly to American payment systems having tipping built in. That said it's a small gripe and not a huge deal. Overall, Gaststätte Atschel is a wonderful restaurant and I would return in a heartbeat.

Our friendly waitress Ruth recommended two of her favorite dishes and we loved our meal. Make sure you make reservation ahead of time. We saw people get turn down regretfully. Make sure you try their house made Spätzle, it was delicious! My husband ordered the pork sausages with Spätzle and chestnuts, served with red wine sauce. Lots of flavor in every bite. I had their popular Frankfurt Schnitzel, breaded pork with golden fried potato and green sauce. Yum! Another popular dish that people sat around us were ordering is Stich, grilled pork belly served with beer sauce, mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. Service was wonderful, our waitress was so sincere and helpful. Make sure you order the cider wine with your meal. Great restaurant to experience German cuisine.

Our food took more than an hour to come. Not sure if it’s racism but the other non-asian customers who arrived and ordered after us got their food first. For an hour we stayed patient and waited; giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were having a busy night. That was until we noticed the blatant differential treatment. For instance, the waiter would ask the other tables (french couple speaking english too) how’s the food etc but pretty much ignored us. Maybe because we looked asian and they weren’t sure if we could speak english but look, we didn’t need the chit chat - we just wanted to be served our food. We had to chase them for our food after more than an hour and they didn’t even serve us the right items. The schnitzel tasted hastily cooked, oily and not well seasoned. This isn’t our first rodeo in Germany and we know that what we had was downright bad. At the end of meal, they tried to charge us for the food that didn’t come. Luckily we checked the bill. They charged us for a schnitzel, additional green sauce and a roasted pork dish even though we only received the 2 plates of oily awful schnitzels. Couldn’t be bothered to try explaining or arguing so we just paid and left. What a pity because we were so excited for the food and even took an uber all the way down to try the food. Awful service, sloppy food and overall horrible experience. P.S. don’t blame it on miscommunication because we are singaporean (we are native english-speakers) and even made sure to code-switch so that we spoke comprehensible english. The locals and non-asian tourists seemed to be enjoying though so…take that as you will 🤷‍♀️ Thank you for reading my...

The worst staff ever!!! Also, expensive! We visited this restaurant because our tour guide suggested it. However, it was completely a mistake. First of all, the staff here treat you terribly. We went inside and were searching a table to seat. Then, a blonde waitress shouted at us behind the bar and asked "Can I help you?" We said we're looking for a place to sit and eat. Then she said "But, can I help you?" with an extreme unfriendly tone. We were so confused with this, then she asked "do you want to sit outside with other guys?" (Well, who are the other guys? We had no idea). Then, we said ok and they showed us the backyard. Almost all tables were empty, but they still made us sit with people we dont know. We accepted it, thought it might be a part of German culture and other tables had the mark "reserved" on them. After we ordered, they made us change our seat to one of those reserved ones. Then it turned out that those tables were not reserved, but the staff tells you they're reserved and makes you sit with other people, if they dont like your apperance. When we arrived, I was drinking my own bottled water which us sustainable and eco-friendly. Then, the same waitress literally shouted at me and said "you cannot drink your own water in a restaurant, it is not nice, we serve water". Normally, I would respect such a rule. However, her attitude of giving me a lesson was terrible and of course, I refused to order. I would never...

Edited Apologize to the neighboring restaurant that I left my review originally there - I confused the two restaurants as they are just next to each other. I already deleted my review on the other restaurant. The below incident happened in this restaurant.

I have to leave this review here for whomever planning to go to this restaurant - please be aware of your belongings!

My purse got STOLEN in the garden. I put my purse next to me and was talking to my friends the whole time. When I was leaving, the purse was just gone. We stayed until 11 pm so there was no one in the garden other than us.

I had all my IDs, credit cards and keys in my purse. I was horrified and blocked all my cards right away. I tried to communicate with the staff there but they literally didn’t care.

Went to the police next day and they promised to send someone to this restaurant (they didn’t). I called the restaurant again and they told me they found my purse in the garden under the tree - the purse was open and all the cash were gone. The thief didn’t take any foreign coins I had in my purse so he must have had enough time to go through my purse, and have access to the yard of this restaurant.

I have all the records at police of what I...
