Drinksmith Neighbourhood Bar — Restaurant in Frankfurt

It is really difficult to rate this place. The cocktails are sublime, no question at all. The beers are expensive but it’s probably the best IPA on draft in town. I had evenings there where you could really enjoy your drinks and the atmosphere. What is really bothering me is that the guys behind the bar are really smug occasionally and that is a bummer. For instance, I really don’t get the „We don’t do split tabs“-stuff. If there is a group of 5-7 people you could at least allow 2-3 tabs; what’s the big deal? Usually you will get more tip anyway which should make up for the little more time you may need to cash in. Even worse though is that the bar tenders seem to get really mad if you only dare to ask for split tabs and that is way out of line, among other things. They say they are a neighbourhood bar and for me they are literally just that in the best possible way. Don't expect anything too fancy, after all it is just a bar. But if you are into good cocktails and craft beer this is definitely one of the places in Sachsenhausen. The beer menu is quite large with weekly specials, yet all of it is stuff you would hardly get in this way in a regular german bar. Still all of their beer is local german craft beer from the Frankfurt area. So very international and local at the same time. The staff speaks english preferably and the vibe is very hip (irish and new zealandish from what I know). They have some nice benches outside that really let's you enjoy one of the most interesting quarters of Frankfurt. They are a bit pricy but if you really like craft beer it is surely worth it. The employees are extremely arrogant and rude. Should you not have a drink at all times, you are not allowed to sit. Heaven forbid you would like to have a 5 minute break from drinking and talk with your friends. Other reviewers give good ratings based on the beer and cocktails, but the service will ruin your night. No drink can be so good that it’s worth this type of disrespect. There are so many other wonderful places In Frankfurt, which offer delicious drinks and better atmospheres. Take an extra 5 min on your google search and find another bar.
