Maingold - Frankfurt am Main — Restaurant in Frankfurt

I had a single but really bad experience in mid-October 2022 and based on that I'd say: Avoid.

On a positive note, the "corner cafe" vibe is cute, the interior cozy, the garden part of the cafe lovely in a hipsterish retro way - the constant life around the place attracted me.

But - yes, price-wise it is Frankfurt at its "best": Crazily disproportionate prices for just regular or average offer. Snack, cakes or appetizers for what elsewhere is a price of full-meal. I understand that countries and even cities may have different price levels, but come on people, this is "a glass of hot water" or "a piece of bread" or "fried egg" - get real, please!

Though what really infuriated me was that within one hour I unexpectedly spent there, I managed to get a menu, order a tea and pay. Not that I was not hungry or did not want more, just that I was not being served by waiters. And believe it or not, in this small place, I met 6 or 7 different waiters, who promised me that "someone will be right back with you", but each time it was a different person, each time completely lost on what I am waiting for or want.

Unfortunately, my overall impression was ... hipsterical. ;) A lot of cuteness, a lot of design, a lot of style - asking fortune for the most basic food items that everyone can make at home - but whatsoever NO capability for organization or service. For that money? Never...

Very pretty, retro style, left-wing Café in Frankfurt. It is easy to access by public transportation (U-Bahn line) and located centrally. The guests are mostly nice people that you can easily get into discussions and the team is extremely kind & nice. Food additives are not used, milk and meat products are supplied from sources where the animal rights are controlled (artgerechte Tierhaltung). Moreover their milk is Demeter certified and other milk products that I saw are from the brand Bioland which is the proof of high quality standards and organic resources. Music is starting from tiny minimal limits and in the late night rising till some techno / deep house beats. Maingold became one of my favorite places in Frankfurt. Strongly...
