I was forced to pay a 15% tip!

(I'm writing this in English so that more people can see it.)

I've been living in Germany for many years, and I'm well aware of the tipping culture here. Since I wasn't the one who paid yesterday, I didn't find out about this immediately. I communicated with the staff entirely in German, and I have no idea what went wrong that made you think you could deceive us because we're foreigners. There were six of us, and we spent nearly 300€, but we were forced to pay a 15% tip without receiving the total bill. What kind of restaurant operates in such an unprofessional and dishonest manner? I even asked my German friends and confirmed that there's no such thing as mandatory tipping in Germany. I can't help but suspect that you are discriminating against us based on our race. You have shown us great disrespect, and you subjected my family to unfair treatment. I'm extremely angry and disappointed, and I demand an apology!

Add on: I am now releasing the bill and card transaction record from that time. According to my friend's description, when he made the payment, the bill showed that a 15% tip was already included, amounting to €336.52, but we only received a bill showing €295.20. As a restaurant with many years of experience, it is impossible that you are unaware that handing over all the bills to the customer at checkout is the most basic requirement. My demand has never been for a refund; rather, it is because you took advantage of him being a foreigner and unfamiliar with the process, causing him to overpay. If this isn't racial discrimination, then what is? If there has been some misunderstanding, I am happy to listen. However, if you have already confirmed the situation with the restaurant staff, then your response only serves to prove how correct my statements are—unprofessional, dishonest, and...

Judging by the people who low reviewed this place (they re lying, or have some personal issues, or don'tknow how to review a restaurant) with all types of nonesence like discrimination, slow service arrogant waiters, i decided to visit and try Main Nizza to check it myself. Right by the fantastic Main river, overlooking the wonderful walkways, green trees, flowing river, passing boats, families walking, bikers passing by, sitting and eating on the terrasse of this lovely place full of romantic soul is just a poem. We arrived without a reservation, but our lovely host Mrs. Regina Engelhardt made our life easy by allowing us to a table she got out of the blues. "DO NOT FORGET TO MAKE A RESERVATION ONE DAY PREVIOUS TO YOUR VISIT". As we are in the asparagus season we ordered the famous frankfurt asparagus soup, a 500 grams plate of cooked asparagus with hollandaise sauce, schnitzel and a rump steak. Our waiter Oscar was very friendly, smiling, accurate and informative. Our order started to be served 10 minutes after it was written. It is fair to mention that the seats are confortable the table ware is nice, elegant and clean. The soup was great big portion, full of big chunks of asparagus and croutons, u can lick your plate clean. The asparagus was tender and succulent. The rump steak was perfwct and cooked exactly to my request. Has a creme brulée for desert and it got 5 stars. The restaurant is not cheap nore extremely expensive. Will definitely come again and advise to visit it. Ps. Make a...

I came to Frankfurt to enjoy my weekend. After having a nice meal at one of the German restaurants, I was craving a dessert. I looked on TripAdvisor on recommendations for dessert and mainnizza sounded like a good option. Online it said it closes at 1am and the kitchen at 10pm, it was 9:20 so we took a taxi to ensure we would get there before the kitchen closed. We got to the restaurant at 9:35ish pm and were told the kitchen was closed! When I tried to politely say, “oh, this is too bad, we came here craving for a desert and took a cab to ensure we would get here on time”, the owner of the restaurant started attacking me verbally. He said, I quote “I am the owner here and the kitchen closes when I think it should close, I will not change the time online because I am the owner and I tell how it is.” He was not only being rude with his words but also with his gestures, and was talking loudly and making me embarrassed. So my protection mode was turned on and I said “I will give you a review online as rude as your behavior right now.” Then he got even more aggressive and continued yelling at me: “I am the boss and etc.” to top it off, all of the waiters and waitresses came because he was yelling at me and one of them made the most racist comment I have ever heard. Not worth the visit, I so regretted taking the taxi to come to this place: spent money to be disrespected, be treated with racism, and to ruin a day that had been great in Frankfurt. Definitely do not...

I don't know when I'll get used to the lukewarm welcome (if there is any) and lack of acknowledgement German waiters/waitresses/hosts give when you arrive at a restaurant. "Hello? Hi? I've come to your workplace with the sole purpose of spending money on it - Can I get a little hello?" Is it maybe because I don't speak the German language? Or because I'm Asian? But my point is, there was almost no acknowledgement when I walked into the restaurant. I went and asked where I could find the table for my reservation. With the most bland facial expression the waitress asks me again "Do you have a reservation?". Ugh- At this point I don't even want to have to face this woman and spoil my evening. But I just cheerfully say "Oh I think I spotted my table." and head over to my family. Dear Main Nizza, please work on how you greet your diners and customers - its the start of the whole experience at your restaurant. Nonetheless, I had a great time with my family. The waiter waiting our table (on the contrary to the other employees there) was extremely helpful and friendly - and even took pictures for us. The food was very tasty as well - we spent around 100 euros for three people. Regardless of how I was greeted and even sent off after the meal (not very nice either), I would recommend to anyone wanting a special evening with loved ones! Maybe they greet you better if you're German or its just always like that and I should just get used to it - who knows?
