retablo specialty coffee — Restaurant in Frankfurt

I noticed this place on the map thanks to its rating of 4.9 / 5, which is very good and puts it ahead of most other cafés (especially those on Fahrgasse).

The address is a little out of the way, but I decided to make the trip anyway. At the time, I thought the distance was worth it.

No doubt the coffee was good, but was it worth the detour? Not really, in my opinion.

If that was all I had to say, a 4/5 would have been well deserved. But the crowds and the layout, more aesthetic than practical, make the place rather unpleasant.

I know it's probably impossible to have more space or crowd control, but as a customer, I didn't enjoy the experience.

To sum up this review, I don't think it's really worth making the trip and coming to this...

Retablo Specialty Coffee delivers exactly what it promises—specialty brews done right. The coffee leans towards the bitter side, but not in an off-putting way. Instead, it brings out a smooth, rounded texture with a wonderfully strong, fragrant finish that lingers pleasantly. You can tell the beans are thoughtfully sourced and well-handled.

Pastries, however, were fairly average—not bad, but nothing that stood out. They serve more as a sidekick to the main act: the coffee.

If you’re serious about your brew, this spot is absolutely worth a visit. Just don’t expect to be wowed by the bakes—but trust me, the coffee...
