Ok I love Saigon street food and am especially a little bit obsessed with bun cha, bun thit nuong and com tam. I've had them hundreds of times in Vietnam, Europe and in the US. So of course I got super excited when I saw this place in Frankfurt! Unfortunately, the food did not live up to my expectations. Instead of pork, the bun cha came with chicken. Which tasted great, but just doesn't compare to the original BBQ pork. Also, for me the most important thing about bun cha are all the herbs. There were barely any. I think I found a single piece of mint. No cilantro, no basils, no shiso, no lemon grass. All the complex flavors were missing! Rice noodles with fish sauce by themselves aren't that special... The com tam was ok, though it wasn't actually broken rice and missing the BBQ pork all the same... About the interior. It's really well done, with a lot of nice little details. But not as good as district mot in Berlin. Maybe check it out for inspiration :) they capture the feeling of Saigon street food almost perfectly. And their bun cha is pretty decent. The staff was nice and attentive, but the prices were pretty steep and the wait quite long. All in all I give it three stars but am willing to try...

Read moreI was looking for a Vietnamese restaurant near the Hauptbahnhof and my hotel. I had a taste for Bun Cha Ga, grilled chicken and fresh cilantro, atop rice noodles, with fresh bean sprouts, grated carrots, cucumbers, and red cabbage, sesame seeds sprinkled on top, with a light chili and lemon fish sauce. For dessert I ordered a warm coconut milk black rice pudding with grated coconut and sesame seeds, and fresh pieces of mango on top. While I waited I enjoyed a bottle of Saigon beer. The restaurant was cute, colorful and clean with Euro-pop music playing. They also had sidewalk cafe seating. The waitresses spoke fluent English, as well as German. I brought my meal back to my hotel room, and by the time I had eaten half of it, I was already full. It was delicious! I’ll save the rest for a midnight snack. This all cost under €20, and I look forward...
