We had an absolutely lovely evening here last night. We were wandering around looking for a nice place for dinner and luckily came across Gasthaus zum Rauhen Mann. We’d been in a couple of places that were a bit loud and decided to look for somewhere a bit more quiet but also authentic, and Rauhen Mann was perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was delicious. I particularly appreciated the fact that we tried to utilise our limited German when ordering, just to try to demonstrate some willing and make an effort, and the waiters respected our efforts and engaged with us very patiently in German too, despite me having to ask for an English translation at one point during the conversation. It was just very friendly, respectful, accommodating and much appreciated. And like I say, the atmosphere was just lovely. It was busy but not loud or overwhelming, and just felt very friendly and warm. And we both very much enjoyed the food. I will certainly be returning the next time I have the pleasure of visiting...
Read moreLovely setting under the shelter of a large tree in the town (perfect for a hot sunny day). The food was quite nice but a bizarre interaction with the waitress left us feeling unhappy. When she brought the bill she made a big deal of pointing out that the service wasn't included. She went on and on about it and was basically pressuring us into leaving a tip - she wouldn't leave until we told her she was being rude. We were already going to leave a tip on the table when we left as you would usually do - I don't know why she was being so weird about it....

Otherwise, the critics on the service are undeserved: two guys for all the tables is rather sparse and they still managed to recommend a beer to quench...
