The visit to Dim Sum Haus was a huge disappointment. I love trying new restaurants out and know that the communication between the kitchen, waiter and customer can be challenging, but this was the bottom line of everything I have ever experienced - and I do eat out a lot.
The person serving us was really unkind. The menu is huge so we had some questions and she answered those really unfriendly. Beside taking the first order, when she "needed" to come to our table, she didn't take any contact or ask if we would like to order more. For this we needed to do the effort ourselves - and so did everyone else too. She also kind of threw all the dishes on the table, as if that would be a way to save time.
We were 4 people and ordered different starters and one main course per person. NONE of the dishes arrived at the same time, which meant that instead of eating together as a social activity, one or two of us were eating and the others were watching. Last one of the main courses arrived AFTER the others had already finished eating - and this despite of two times asking where the food was. The waitress didn't even apologise for the dish coming so late.
We had 4 smaller dishes and 4 main dishes. Of the 8 dishes only the Peking duck was something worth ordering again. The other dishes did not really taste like anything - in any case not like something you would like to eat again. The price of the dishes being 15-30€ and not 7-15€ one would expect something different.
The only good thing in this place was the calm atmosphere and the nice background music. However, those one can also have at home without unfriendly...
Read moreThe best cantonese food experience by far. The homemade dim sums are absolutely delicious, the wok dishes are as fresh as they can get and very creative. They have a ton on items on the menu that you can't just get on every corner. Don't let me even start with the Beijing duck. AMAZING. And you can get it without preordering it - they always have it in stock, which is absolutely unusual. It is crispy and juicy, flavourful and a pure culinary delight! You can taste that the chefs know exactly what they are doing. Just the way it is sliced up for you makes it so unique. Every little pancake you fill with the crispy skin and juicy meat of the duck, the special sauce, some thinly sliced cucumber and leek is like a gift for your tastebuds.
The prices are absolutely fair, the portions however are very generous. Since the menu gives you so many opportunities to try something new and special, it is easy to order seemingly too much. But magically in the end, every dish is finished. We usually hit this crazy good restaurant with a large group of friends and order a whole bunch of different items and share them. This is especially easy, because the bigger tables - for up to 10 people - are equipped with a lazy Susan, so it is easy to just give the food a spin and dig into everything that's served on large white platters. Most of the dim Sums come in the little bamboo baskets in which they were steamed. This give the whole eating experience a very different touch.

Read moreI can only judge the dim sum we got. Overall it was pretty great and very authentic. Everything tasted home cooked and was brought to the table after a reasonable amount of time. We tried 12 of the dim sum dishes and I can recommend everyone of them. Everything that had shrimp in it had whole shrimp in them which was perfect. The Char Siu (roast pork) was also incredible. If you got a sweet tooth, my highest recommendation goes to the sweet water chestnut cake. It was as satisfying and succulent as eating warm pudding and freshly a baked apple pie at the same time. My only point of complaint are the Xiao Long Bao which were somewhat lukewarm when they arrived and the dough was alittle too thick, but the filling was great. Also the waiters were noticeably stressed. They were still in a good mood and polite though. Just not quite as observant as I hoped. A small piece of advice if you decide to go there and in case you don't know this yet: it's totally acceptable to only eat a bunch of dim sum with your friends, share everything, drink tea with it (ask them to refill your teapot with hot water if it's empty. You can ask them directly or tilt the lid on the pot when it's empty. This is chinese etiquette and they'll know they need to refill it). Also only go for dim sum in groups of 2-4 or else sharing might become problematic. Lack of photos will be updated in the future cause I'll definitely go...
