Iām a little conflicted on how to rate this restaurant. We got there on a very rainy afternoon and we were almost completley alone there. We got our food super fast which was a huge plus. The portions were big and generous, although some of them had a bit too much condements that didnāt seem to add anything to the dish, like a lot of lettuce. The food was good, nothing special but not at all bad. I took the crispy duck and the duck itself was very nice but the rest of the dish was quite boring and veeeey salty. It left a kind of astringent feeling in my mouth. My company ordered the rice noodles with beef and it was also good, but it had a distingt vinegrette taste to it. Both of the dishes were almost like soups because of all the broth. Nothing wrong with the taste and Iām not an expert at vietnameese food, maybe thatās just the way their food is made. However it was a bit too much for me because all of the food swam around in the broth.
The service was nothing special at all, they did their job but thatās it. You have to pay with your card by the front door because thereās no reception inside the restaurant which is a little odd. Many of the workers wore slippers and sweatpants and some sat by the counter with their phones on the bar. Overall they seemed quite careless. The waiter asked for tip when we paid which was a little rude to us because he did nothing out of the ordinary.
All in all, Nom wasnāt anything special to us but it wasnāt a bad restaurant. Quite expensive for a lunch...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is nothing but a scam. AVOID!
Check reviews, they are nearly all from fake accounts. Amazing how over half of your reviewers have also been to sushi 93 in Berlin and given 5 stars there too.
I went last night for a birthday dinner with my partner. We sat down and ordered our drinks, the waiter brought me a dirty bottle of beer and walked off, I had to call him back to ask for a glass (which was also dirty).
We ordered our starters and mains together, the waiter appeared almost immediately with our (microwaved) scallops. I took one bite and decided I wasnāt eating in this place.
I asked the waiter to cancel the rest of the order and take back the scallops. He then started crying that he would have to pay for the mains if we didnāt because they were āalready preparedā. After a few minutes of trying to guilt us into paying for the mains, he angrily took away the plate and came back with the bill. Not only did he include the uneaten scallops on the bill but also a service charge!
Iāve never had such a bad experience in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHamburg offers a great variety of Asian food, and many restaurants are top notch. My spouse is Asian so we eat Asian food very frequently. NOM is good, but not special or good enough to warrant a higher rating than three if you compare with other Asian restaurants of a similar kind. The restaurant has a very basic interior, and is not particularly clean. The menus are dirty. The staff is correct and friendly, but not outperforming other, similar restaurants. We had the appetizer sampler to begin with and found the rolls average and the chicken skewer poor (very salty and dry). It tasted like prefab food, not made in the restaurant. The accompanying sauces were not authentic. The beer was room temperature, and the Vietnamese lemonade too sweet. The main courses were okay at best. Neither of us finished the main course and the aftertaste was peculiar. This was our second visit to NOM and we will not try NOM again. That said, if you are looking for a simple and fast imbiss-style Vietnamese dish, it is...
