Where do I start with this one? Perhaps the nice walls and their little Lithuanian style arts or mini buildings inside? Or perhaps with how nice their staff is? Or should I get to the core of it - the food? Regardless of where I start, I have only good to say about here. We came in at an odd hour on a Sunday looking for lunch. When you enter here, at first your thought is - wow! This place is beautiful. But also, at the same time, are they open? The quietness in here is it's own tale. We found ourselves nice seats and thought we'd get something warm to drink. As we go through the menu, we see that they're the only Lithuanian restaurant in Hamburg (Germany too?) Soon I had the Lithuanian vanilla tea ; which was served with honey and lemon on the side. This tea was really brilliant and set the tone right - after this we asked for Lithuanian style pork ribs and stuffed eggplant (vegetarian). Not only were the portions filling, they were also well cooked, really delicious and even more beautifully plated. We finished our dishes right down to the last drop of sauce on our plates. This meal cost us 21€ per head - something I'd gladly do again for that quality of food, ambience and beauty. I should mention, they show you very nice visuals of the Lithuanian capital of Vinilus on their TV - and really, this makes for pleasant viewing as you eat. They also have a nice bar. In the end they serve you some grape flavored schnapps - which for me was a nice touch in the end. Thank you for this wonderful experience! (I just realized there's so many more people who really loved this place, and this would be just 1 among 100 other positive reviews). Do...
Read moreThis was a gem to find relatively close to our hotel in the Reeperbahn. The atmosphere was dark and homey, very outdoor wood aesthetic. We had no idea what to expect from Lithuanian food, but I think any eastern European or German would find the flavors comforting and the food relatable, though not exactly what you're used to.
We shared a mixed platter of dumplings, which was plenty for the two of us. We loved every dumpling, though you didn't know which might be what before eating and the waitress didn't try to tell us how we might know (they were shaped differently so I think she could have mentioned it).
We also got a dessert which was a bit more cheesecake-like than we expected for something that highlighted its chocolate cake-ness, but it was very...
Read morerecently had dinner at Teigtashe, a Lithuanian restaurant in Hamburg, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I ordered traditional dishes – the famous cepelinai and dumplings filled with meat – and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were authentic, hearty, and perfectly cooked, giving a real taste of Lithuanian cuisine. The service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which made the evening even more enjoyable. What also stood out was the unique interior design of the restaurant: cozy, stylish, and full of character, creating a warm atmosphere that matched the food. Overall, Teigtashe is definitely worth visiting if you want excellent food, great service, and a memorable dining...
