🍴 Yaku Restaurant – A Must-Visit in Hamburg 🍴

This was, without a doubt, the best dining experience I’ve had in Hamburg—and in a long time. And this was not a one time thing, as we went 4 times and it was always a delight.

The meal at Yaku Restaurant is a true culinary experience, with standout dishes, exceptional textures, and a warm atmosphere.

Favorites:

🍲 The main dish , PIL PIL was an incredible combination of grilled fish, a savory soup with calamari and shrimp, and perfectly cooked rice. Soup: Rich and savory, it paired beautifully with the rice, creating a balanced and delightful combination.

Fish: Grilled to perfection, with tender and flavorful textures that elevated the dish. Seafood: The shrimp and calamari were fresh, with an amazing texture that melted in the mouth. Green spice: Added an exciting layer of flavor, making each bite even more interesting. A unique addition was a small “tube” of cream, which introduced an entirely new flavor when mixed into the soup—an unexpected twist that added depth and creativity to the dish.

🍮 The dessert

The chocolate crust was a bit dense and difficult to break, but the dulce de leche was perfectly portioned and delightful. The cake, soaked in Pisco, brought a sophisticated touch that balanced sweetness beautifully.

Other Dishes:

In addition to our favorites, we also enjoyed ceviche and several appetizers, all of which were extremely flavorful and absolutely worth trying. As a couple from South America, we found the dishes to be authentic and deeply rooted in traditional flavors, evoking a sense of home with every bite.

Service and Atmosphere:

The staff at Yaku Restaurant are incredibly friendly, creating a welcoming and cheerful atmosphere. Special mention to:

Dilon, who was exceptionally cheerful and guided us through the menu with spot-on recommendations. Alejandra, the talented head chef, who personally introduced dishes tailored to our tastes, elevating the dining experience to something truly special.

Value:

The combination of high-quality ingredients, creative presentation, and impeccable service makes Yaku Restaurant an outstanding value for the price.

🚉 Getting there 🚉 Yaku Restaurant is conveniently located in Hamburg. The best way to get there is by public transportation or a short walk from the HallerstraBe Station.

Tips for a better visit 🦑 Don’t skip the seafood dishes – they’re the highlight of the menu! 🐟 Try the ceviche and appetizers—they’re just as fantastic as the main dishes. 🎯 Ask the staff for recommendations, especially from Dilon, to enhance your experience. 📅 Arrive early or make a reservation to secure your spot during busy hours.

🌟 Closing note 🌟

🌟 We will absolutely eat here...

We visited this place on Saturday 24th. It was a recommendation from a colleague at work. In general an amazing place with tasty food and great service. ☺️

We got 3 appetizers, two main dishes and some drinks.

We were excited about the menu we saw online and it didn't disappoint us.

About the food:

We tried three different appetizers (please forgive me I don't remember the exact name of the dishes):

Appetizers

Octopus Sopes: black corn tortilla with some beans and octopus on top. Great combination of flavors. I also added some cream on top from the dish of my partner and it was delicious.

Heart accompanied by cream and a purple potato. Also amazing.

Duck breast with a spicy sweet sauce and a black corn tortilla (we accompanied it with jalapenos bread and this coffee butter🥰).

Main dishes:

I had a vegetarian dish that had Palmito and leek as the stars of the dish. I definitely recommend it.

My partner had a risotto with fish and shrimps.

Both great dishes with a lot of flavor.

Drinks

They have amazing options for drinks. (Alcohol free and with alcohol). Definitely try the lemonade, the purple chicha, micheladas and a pisco cocktail.

General:

Service 10/10. Our waiter (sadly didn't get his name) provided great suggestions, was always attentive, spoke Spanish and German (which makes the experience extra special).

They mentioned the menu changes every 4 months or so, which might be the reason why the current menu is not the one that is on the website.

I loved the experience, I will definitely recommend it to people who appreciate good food and like to try new ingredients and flavors. And I will definitely come back.

Finally, if you read my whole review and care about seats (I got to say the chairs were just a little bit hard) not a...

HAUPTGANG: „NO ME LLAMES CERDO“, mittelgroßes sehr fettiges Stück Fleisch und ein paar Chips dazu.

I had a terrible experience in this restaurant! My sister found two blonde hairs in her plate (we are both brunettes) , and communicated to the waiter, who took her to the kitchen to show her that they don’t have anyone who is blonde in the staff! And told her that they only can offer %20 discount to the bill, although we barely touched our plates and drinks. The bill came without the %20 discount and we payed the full amount without even fulfilling their tiny promise of half gesture. Very manipulative!! I’m personally very disappointed especially that i was very excited to eat Peruvian food. I would rather spend my money in a place that at least respects the reputation of their own restaurant by ensuring the hygiene of their kitchen first and handling their customer’s concern with care and respect second. Never again and I recommend all to spend their money in a place where they get what they pay for.
