Palais Max Cafe — Restaurant in Karlsruhe

We've eaten here numerous times, and the daily specials and the service tend to be good. There is always at least one meal for vegetarians. However we weren't thrilled by the everyday menu items we tried last visit-- sandwiches (on sliced bread), olive appetizer (just plain inexpensive black olives from a can), and friend didn't love her shrimp appetizer. I have known this place for years. But sadly it is currently just a shade of its former glory. It is such a unique location but since Corona you rarely see people eat and celebrate there anymore. This needs to be a hot spot again. Either invest to provide good and interesting food and a nice atmosphere or make room for the next one. This is the perfect place for a hip location and nowadays it looks like a dump with moldy and bleached out equipment and mushrooms infesting the grass...

The location is great and the setting is very cosy. We booked a table in advance for a wedding party and confirmed this 3 times. When we came to drop off flowers as table decoration on the day, the booking "wasn't in the system". Although the waiters were bot to blame due to shift changes, we did feel very let down.
