We were pleasantly surprised by this little Japanese spot near Lübeck! The atmosphere is inspired by real izakayas – high ceilings, a spacious layout, and thoughtful decor. What stood out to us: a mix of traditional Japanese posters and retro anime touches – totally worth checking out just to see the creative interior!

🍥 Food & Flavor

Tonkotsu Ramen: A very solid bowl! The broth was rich, the chashu slightly fattier than usual but flavorful, with lots of toppings. The egg was perfectly seasoned. 🧐 Small critique (being very picky): The noodles were too thin and a bit overcooked, which made them watery and less able to absorb the broth.

Shio Ramen: A bit too mild for our taste, and we missed the tangy brightness that yuzu usually brings. Not bad, just not as exciting.

Karaage: ⭐ The Highlight! Crispy, juicy, and beautifully seasoned with shoyu, shōga (ginger), and mirin. The batter was light and separated nicely from the meat – absolutely delicious!

Matcha Ice Cream: It came in a big portion with fresh fruits like redcurrants and raspberries 🍓🍇 – a lovely presentation! But for us, it was a bit too sweet and didn’t have enough of that deep matcha flavor we were hoping for.

💡 Tips for a Better Visit

🕒 Take a moment to admire the quirky anime and poster decor inside. 🍗 Definitely try the karaage – one of the best we’ve had in Germany! 🍜 Go for the Tonkotsu if you enjoy rich broths. 🍨 The matcha dessert is cute and generous, but a bit too sweet – depends on your taste.

We ended up really impressed! A cozy little spot with a lot of heart, friendly service, and some standout dishes. If you're anywhere near Lübeck and craving Japanese food, this is absolutely worth a visit!

Ob der kalten Wintertemperaturen hatte ich Lust auf eine schöne heiße Ramen suppe und bin mit einer Freundin auf einem Donnerstag Abend ins Momiji Ramen & Rice zum Essen eingekehrt. Da es schon nach 20:00 Uhr war hatten wir keinen Tisch reserviert. Das war fatal da das Lokal fast bis auf den letzten Platz besetzt war. Es gingen gerade zwei Gäste so das wir den Fenster Tisch bekamen. Früher war in den Räumen eine alte Traditionsgaststätte. Das Interieur wirkte ein wenig abgerockt und die Räumlichkeit war doch auch sehr dunkel. Man hatte die alte Einrichtung wohl in weiten Teilen so übernommen und ein wenig mit asiatischen Lampions und allerlei Schnickschnack aufgepimpt. Naja, über Geschmack kann man sich halt streiten. Der uns bedienende Service war den ganzen Abend freundlich und zuvorkommend. Zum Essen bestellten wir vorweg Edamame mit Chill und crispy Garnelen mit spicy Majo. Beides war keine Offenbarung aber geschmacklich lecker. Zum Hauptgang hatte ich das Shio Chicken. Eine Hühnerbrühe mit Hühnerbrust, Spinat, Yuzu, roten Zwiebeln, Ei Limetten und Lauch. Meine Freundin hatte die Miso Chicken Karage mit frittiertem Chicken, Sojasprossen, Bambussprossen, Ei und Lauch. Beide Suppen waren geschmacklich und handwerklich gut gemacht. Wenn sie auch hier keine Offenbarung waren. Das habe ich an anderen Orten sicher schon einmal besser gegessen. Ebenso waren beide Suppen mit € 15,90 auch ordentlich bepreist. Nichts desto trotz hatten wir einen schönen Abend im Momiji und kommen sicher...

Wonderful restaurant, I highly recommend! Lovely atmosphere, with great music and absolute perfect ramen dishes. I tried two different dishes, both miso based, and although the spicy one needed some added spice, the spice was readily on the table. I do give the most warm regards to the happy and helpful staff, who were so pleasant and easily understood my bad german. I will add, I personally eat vegan, and this is the best restaurant I visited in my short trip through...
