Da Vino — Restaurant in Mannheim

I went for a dinner with my sister and wanted something authentic and special to celebrate. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed in this restaurant with the food and communication. The starter which was octopus salad and Vitello Tonnato was great and I got big hope for the main course. Then the main course came which was seafood pasta (Mare e Monti) which was really disappointed. The menu said fresh sea food and the price (15€+) made me expect something fresh and awesome but no …. The sea food was blend, tasted frozen and the scallops fishy and texture was wrong. After talking to the manager he told me it’s not possible to have fresh seafood which is just wrong and not really professional and almost criminal when you advertise it on the menu.

To his Defence he offered us a grappa which I needed badly to flush the scallop taste away!

I just hope the restaurant takes this serious because for me that is fraud. I would have expected either a new plate or the meal for free… I worked many years in restaurants also in really high quality location , where I ate better, cheaper and fresher seafood pasta for less price. Also the pasta with steak was without any sauce and steak was overcooked… Just...

Die Begrüßung war herzlich und auch an der Freundlichkeit beider mit 9 besetzten Tischen völlig überforderten Servicemitarbeitern möchte ich keinen Anstoß erregen. Aber.... wenn mir - logischerweise vorher von einem Servicemitarbeiter - in Papier-Servietten eingewickeltes (!!!) Besteck hingelegt wird, erinnere ich mich irgendwie an einen Biergarten Service. Dass es am Verkaufstalent etwas mangelte, fand ich traurig; ein leeres Bierglas animierte niemanden, nachzufragen, ob ich noch etwas trinken wollte. Ein Feldsalat kostet hier 16,50 Uhr und ich ging bei der Bestellung davon aus, dass man davon satt werden würde und fragte deshalb, ob ich eine kleinere Portion als Zwischengang bestellen könnte. Das angebote Rumpsteak hatte nämlich einen Salat inkludiert. Mir wurde gesagt, dass "Sonderbestellungen" nicht erlaubt (!!!) wären, da der Koch alleine in der Küche wäre. Ahhhh ja! Dann eben kein Rumpsteak! Eine zum Dessert bestellte Tasse Kaffee musste ich zweimal nachfordern, obwohl diese bereits mit der Dessertbestellung bestellt wurde. Dann wurde sie mir ohne Crema auf dem Tisch gestellt und war erwartungsgemäß nicht mehr richtig heiß. Die "Kürbissuppe getrüffelt" bestand darin, dass man statt dem üblichen Steirischen Kürbiskernöl einfach nur getrüffeltes Öl auf die Suppe geträufelt hatte. Die Suppe war anfangs gewöhnungsbedürftig aber trotzdem (irgendwann) schmackhaft da gut gewürzt. Brot musste ich "natürlich" erst anfordern und kam nicht automatisch. Aber das Baguette war frisch aufgebacken und sehr sehr lecker. Besagter Feldsalat mit 4 kleinen gebratenen Kürbisstreifen und ein paar Pfifferlingen kostet 16,50€ und die Portion entsprach einem größeren Beilagensalat; angemacht mit einem geschmacksneutralen Milchprodukte-Dressing. Ich hatte bei so einem Affront keine Lust mehr, einen Hauptgang zu bestellen.....Ich bestelle daraufhin nur noch ein Tiramisu, welches völlig unspektakulär mit 4 (vier) Beeren präsentiert wurde. Von Marsala oder einer ersatzweise gewählten Spirituose habe ich nichts im Tiramisu geschmeckt. Wahrscheinlich wurde das Dessert gleich kinder-gerecht hergestellt. Unmöglich! Bezahlen: hierfür muss man zur Theke gehen. Ich dachte, ich höre nicht richtig. Hinter mir musste dann ein ebenfalls zahlender Gast sich in die Schlange einreihen, um ebenfalls zu zahlen. Spaßig: mehrere "Fuß -Tapser" mit den Worten "WC" weisen auf dem Boden zu den Waschräumen. Der ganze Besuch hat sich nicht annähernd gelohnt. Bei Trip Advisor steht dieser Laden auf Platz 1 der besten Restaurants...
