Americans visiting Mannheim but staying in an area of Mannheim where many people from Turkey or of Turkish descent live. Happens we love food prepared in a more traditional German style but also love food prepared as those acquainted with Turkish food preparation and those traditional ingredients.
Happens tonight’s meal at Turk Sofrasi was a recommendation given by the evening consierge of Mercure Hotel - her personal favorite for Turkish style food.
We both found Turk Sofrasi tonight an absolutely exceptional experience. Our waiter walked us through the menu, made a couple of recommendations for dishes we might enjoy. The meals hit all the marks for beautifully balanced, beautiful presentation, perfect temperature, lamb grilled perfectly and our personal guide - our waiter - then walked us through a fascinating yet brief, 3-episode history of a very special dessert that, for us- unforgettable.
We’ve eaten more than our share of fine foods and while Turk Sofrasi is more a great local spot for healthy beautifully prepared foods it’s unpretentious- in all ways.
Thank you Turk...
Read moreI was with my friend to the restaurant today to have lunch. During my last visit to the place(during pre-Covid times), I could not even enter the restaurant, there was a huge queue waiting for their turn. This time, it was much easier, many empty chairs, possibly because it was lunch hours. Now for the experience. We ordered a portion of french fries, minced lamb grill and bread. Service : 5 out 5 (Right from order taking, delivering food on time, being courteous) Ambience: 5 out 5 Location of the restaurant: 5 out 5 Food: The lamb grill was very tender and nice in taste. However, underneath were also bread crumbles flooding in yogurt. The taste of the lamb was nullified with the overflowing yogurt. The french fries could be fried a bit more. Going by the reputation of this place, it was a huge let down for us. I visit turkish restaurants quite often and I am not sure if I am really coming back to this restaurant if I am in the city again. Word of advice: If you are ordering Chicken or Lamb Grill, please inform them in advance not to flood your plate...
Read moreI recently dined at Türk Sofrası Ocakbaşı Marktplatz and wanted to share my feedback.
While the Turkish cuisine served is undeniably delicious, the presentation leaves much to be desired. They say that the eyes eat first, but unfortunately, the appearance of the food on the plate is not appealing. The pricing, in relation to the quality and quantity of the dishes, doesn't seem to align well. The simplicity of the food, both in terms of ingredients and preparation, was a bit underwhelming.
The ambiance is somewhat chaotic, with the presence of random sports jerseys hanging around. The connection of these jerseys to the restaurant's concept is unclear. The closely arranged tables contribute to an atmosphere where it feels like one is dining uncomfortably close to strangers.
It's disappointing as the overall experience does not quite match the deliciousness of the food. Addressing these aspects could significantly enhance the dining experience at Türk Sofrası Ocakbaşı...
