Bar Gabányi — Restaurant in Munich

After ages, I visited the bar yesterday with my wife and friends who were here for the first time. The atmosphere and the music are still beautiful; Mr. Gabanyi is still very attentive, entertaining and kind; however, we didn't like half of our cocktails. In my opinion, the reason is that the barmen who prepare the cocktails is not bad at doing, but not necessarily good at recommending. The first three out of four cocktails were pretty tasty, only my wife didn't like her cocktail at all. However, Mr. Gabanyi prepared another cocktail for her after asking what she wanted. So the first four cocktails were very good. Then this time we asked the barmen directly what he would recommend if we had nothing sweet but spicy, smoky etc. Both cocktails that he recommended and prepared were really bad, so we couldn't drink them. But I know, in the end it is a matter of taste... So, we would definitely visit the...

I am sure we will come back to Bar Gabányi. We had a lovely night in this bar with an intimate, old-school atmosphere. The cocktails were carefully prepared, had pleasant textures and the bartenders were always there in case we needed anything.

We tried: French 19 (Raspberry Brandy with champagne and lime syrup) La Guapa (tequila, red pepper, lime syrup) Adonis (dry Sherry, Vermouth, orange) Red Cuban (white rum with marks of raspberry, lime, mint and grapefruit) Pink Elephant (gin and fruity liquiors) Pisco Punch (peruvian drink with pineapple and lime juice) Alexander3 (Genever with white cocoa and hazelnut liquoir)

La Guapa with the refreshing pepper flavour was a surprise. Alexander3 was a creamy cocktail with a pleasant texture.

The bar is underground. Has a nice cozy ambience. Not so loud. Perfect for a nice conversation. Prices are ok considering it is too central. Nice sitting arrangement. Some places are not too comfy to sit relaxed. We were in a group of more than 10 people and the reservation was allowed for max. 8 people. It was kind a buzz killer as waiters kept complainig about it and said, next time 8 means 8. It is a bit off-putting. The message could have been conveyed nicely.
