Today was my first time in this cafe. It was included in my 2023 B-MY Munich voucher book and it did not disappoint. Not far from the main train station, it's not necessarily in one of the prettiest corners of Munich, but when we got there at 10:30 the café was full and there was a long queue at the counter.
You can't reserve on Sundays, but we were lucky that a group was just leaving the café, so we got a seat right at the back of the place. This was a great spot with a view of the whole store and away from the entrance where there was a lot going on. However, it was also very warm back there without being able to open a window.
The café has a modern interior, which you wouldn't expect in this area, and there were a couple of guys behind the counter who seemed to be having a lot of fun and contributed to the good atmosphere in the whole place.
We ordered 2x the "Lieblingsfrühstück" (1x as a veggie option - €8.50 each), fresh orange juice (€3.50) and various coffees - everything can be found on a large written board on the wall.
What we didn't know at first: You order at the counter and pay directly there. We only found out about this after a while when we asked the table neighbors because no one came to take the order.
The plates of food came quite quickly after the order, were lovingly and nicely prepared and there was enough of everything and above all: We liked the food and beverages very much and the prices are very reasonable, too.
All in all, it was a very nice start to the day in an area where you wouldn't really expect such a...
Read moreI visited this place twice last week whilst on holiday in Munich. Positive points: I liked the bagel with scrambled eggs. That's it. Negative: I did not like the fact that tables are rarely cleaned and have to ask them several times and even then they might not clean them at all. Also the second day, on sunday the 28th of july around 11 am, we were next in the queue and the guy at the till decided to take the order from the guy behind us first. Why? I suspect the fact that he was german and we were not. When I pointed this to him, he simply replied "warte" (wait). I stayed because my daughter was hungry and didn't want to have to find a different place. I certainly do not endure or accept racism in any shape or form and after so many years visiting germany it's the first time I feel ashamed by what I've encountered. There's good options for breakfast around the same area so I recommend any...
Read moreThe Bäckerei was conveniently located near both the main train station and our hotel. They offered a diverse range of options, and the prices were in line with what you would expect in Munich. My Cappuccino was delicious, and the chocolate croissant was equally enjoyable.
However, my overall experience at this place was not entirely satisfactory, and I would rate it three stars primarily due to the service. The staff there lacked politeness and made strange facial expressions while interacting, even though I made a sincere effort to communicate in their language. Moreover, they managed to forget our order and mistakenly gave it to someone else, causing us to wait for more than 30 minutes before finally receiving it.
While the Bäckerei could be a great dining spot, I believe it might benefit from a change in staff to improve the overall...
