Derya Restaurant — Restaurant in Munich

The server was absolutely rude. I called ahead and booked for 7 at 7 pm. People started arriving at 7:15 or so, and despite plenty of empty seats, the server was clearly upset about the delay. By the time the rest of us arrived and were ready to order (around 7:45-7:50 ish), I made eye contact with the server, and he arrived a couple of mins later to get our orders. By the time we made our orders, the server asked who made the booking and I indicated that I did, he came to me and started to complain about the delay and what not (despite the still empty seats), and I had to interrupt his ramble and ask him upfront, do you want us to leave??? And he said no, just for you not to do it next time. Trust me, there will not be next time for me or any of my friends. Completely ruined the mood for me. I was recommended this place by the concierge at my hotel because I was looking for middle eastern bbq. The area is not the nicest, strip clubs everywhere and just men standing around vans and cars. Luckily, I was fine on my own. As I was reading the menu outside the restaurant, I asked one of the waiters if they had an English version, he quickly said No, and walked away. I decided that I would still try the food and just google translate. I sat down thankfully not in that waiters section, and the one who attended me was very nice and although he didn't speak English, we managed to figure out what I wanted. There is an English translation right in their menu, btw, and with pictures. Food was great, it came out fairly quickly, and I had the chicken biryani. The overall experience was below expectations. I’d rate it around 3.5 out of 5. Hygiene standards could definitely be improved, and the food quality was quite average.

I also got the impression that many of the overly positive reviews might be from friends or relatives, as they don’t quite reflect the reality we experienced.
