Not your ordinary bakery that’s why I love coming here.
🥑My favorite dishes: freshly baked vegan and gluten-free avocado bread and vegan falafel bowl with red beet hummus and chili dressing. Their vegan muffins (blueberry, chocolate and lemon) are very moist and not overly sweet.
🔥What’s special: apart from the traditional bakery stuff, you’ll get freshly queezed juices, smoothies, different hot/cold healthy lunch options (i.e. curries, chili con/sin carne), gluten free “Korn and Korn” bread, and the best “Lebkuchen” in town. They keep innovating their dishes to cater not only for the traditional bread and croissant lover but also the health conscious eater.
☕️Coffee: You’ll get your coffee with Oatly Oat Milk.
🏡: Large indoor and outdoor seating area nicely decorated (imagine white tables, boho style)
💶: Avocado Toast (also known as VEGGIE BABSI without eggs) for only 6.90€ is unbeatable here in Munich!! It comes with two slices of bread of your choice (whole meal or gluten-free), sliced tomatoes and rucola. Falafel bowl is 7.20€. Cappuccino small 2.60€. Take out prices slightly cheaper.
💳Payment: Fast and easy payment by card, if you spent at least 1€, and cash.
🙋♀️Service: The ladies behind the counter work efficiently as a team and serve fast, always with a smile. It gets very busy during lunch time, if you want to avoid crowds or make sure your favorite dish is still available, then go earlier or later. The staff appreciates a friendly smile 😃 (they are working hard to make you happy)
😋Taste: all food and drinks are delicious but if you expect a barista coffee or a fancy breakfast bowl, you’ll be better off going to a speciality coffee shop or hip cafe. After all, Kistenpfennig is a bakery.
Read moreIts hard to believe that anyone would give anything but 5 STARS to this place. Im a Canadian expat in Munich and I too feel a part of this family run bakery. I cannot wait to see the owner’s beautiful smiling face in the morning. She and all the ladies on the team work hard, start early every morning, but they never seem tired or disinterested. On the contrary. Lets talk food and drinks now: DELICIOUS!! I’m always on a diet but when I indulge i feel in heaven. The inside restaurant is very spacious but nicely divided. Sandwiches, soups, chilli, pastries, cakes, coffees of all sorts, fresh juices.. ALL to die for. But most noteworthy to me is the energy and love that fills the air when you walk that gently fills your soul and not just your tummy. I am so grateful they are a part of my new life here....
Read moreUPDATE: Today, 19th August 2020, I went for a salad or a sandwich to this place, that used be one of my favourite ones. In the same way I arrived, I needed to leave, without ordering any food: in the middle of rising numbers of Covid infections, 5 people behind the counter serving food, without any face masks at all, with their faces less than a meter away from the food and last but not least, only one of them wearing gloves to manipulate and serve stuff like sandwiches and the likes. What a wasted opportunity: if you can't take care of our health, we customers can't take care of your business.
Really good and tasty selection of salads, sandwiches and other options for lunch, in a key location near Odeonsplatz. The atmosphere is good, and the staff is gentle and friendly. I totally...
