I would not recommend this restaurant!! Myself and 3 friends arrived for some pancakes as this place had great reviews and looked good in the pictures. We got there and had to ask the male staff that was working there if we could sit outside which he muttered "yes" in response. We then sat for over 10 minutes waiting for a menu, and saw him watch us from inside the restaurant. I decided to go in and ask if we could order inside to which he also muttered "yes". I stared to order pancakes with a coffee and not once did the worker confirm he was taking my order or even listening to me. He had the rudest look on his face. I had to ask the questions as he was just standing there with a dead stare at me. I tried to pay with card but they only take cash he said, but again, in the rudest possible way. We turned around and left. They did not deserve our business here. For what looks like a great restaurant, it is actually the complete opposite. It's dark and dreary to be completely honest, and with a name like "Mr. Pancake" you would expect a bright and friendly space suitable for children and families, but again, this was the complete opposite. We ended up going to another cafe called the California Bean, where we were greeted with the friendliest and most accommodating staff, great food and drinks, and a warm and welcoming environment. The real...
Read moreWe went for a late breakfast at 10am on a Friday -- while the line didn't appear long (2 groups of 4 ahead of us) and there were available seating, the we were in line for 40 minutes to order. After ordering, it was another 22 minutes before we got our food. By this time, the line had grown even larger and seating was virtually non-existent.
We had ordered the Mr. Sausage and the sausage was probably the best part of it -- the rest (pancakes and fried eggs) were decent, but I unfortunately didn't consider the entirety of the breakfast to be worth the 1hr wait.
After eating, it took more waiting (at least 10 minutes) to pay because we had to go back to the busy counter to pay for our food -- personal opinion: it would make more sense to allow customers to pay when ordering for efficiency, but maybe there are laws in Europe that I'm just ignorant of.
The whole experience would have been more enjoyable if the ordering process were more efficient and customers weren't forced to wait 1hr+ to eat. Perhaps that's the case earlier in the morning's, or on other days of the week -- I won't have the opportunity to test that theory out, unfortunately.
Additional note: Mr. Pancake is cash-only, so remember...
Read moreTotally overpriced. If you go there, go for only the pancakes, which were the only decent thing I had. However, in all my 28 years of life this was the first time I've eaten pancakes without butter! They didnt even have any butter in the place! Mind blown! It was very sad. I had bacon and eggs with my pancakes. Which wouldn't have been bad if it wasnt so expensive. 11 euros for what should've have cost probably 7... bacon was flimsy and very thin, eggs had no flavor. They must have just cracked them right on the grill and cooked with no butter, salt or pepper. Also, be specific when you order your eggs as I learned the hard way that American vs. German lingo for egg type is different. I wanted over easy (which means a runny yolk) and I got over medium bordering hard. The americano coffee tasted burnt which might be due to how hot they made it which was Very hot and tasted a bit weak. All in all, I payed 14 euros for decent tasting yet butterless pancakes accompanied by sub par bacon and eggs. This is a meal I've eaten my entire life as I was born and raised in Tennessee, they have no idea what they're doing and charging highway robbery for it. Thumbs down. But the pancakes... Thumbs up....
