September 24, 2025 - My wife and I had a reservation for dinner at 21:30. She received an email confirming the reservation and it was within the restaurant's hours of operation. We took an Uber from our hotel and arrived at exactly 21:30 to find the door locked and most of the lights turned off. When my wife tried opening the door, she caught the attention of an employee sitting inside. He looked up at her but then would not acknowledge her in any way.
The doorman at the Hotel New Orly München, which is attached to the restaurant saw us standing in the rain and asked if he could help out. We told him about our reservation and the restaurant being closed. He left us for just a couple of minutes and then came back and said that the restaurant closed after the last patrons left around 20:30. He then gave us an umbrella from the hotel and pointed us in the direction of where we could find several more restaurants still open. He was a true gentleman.
I rarely write reviews and I've never posted a negative one. However, the decision by this restaurant to not honor our reservation was unsettling to say the least. We had a confirmed reservation during their business hours. They had our contact information from the online reservation. Their last patron left a full hour before our reservation was scheduled. They could've made any excuse for having to cancel our reservation and notify us in a timely fashion. Instead, they let my wife and I make the trek from our hotel to their restaurant, in the rain, and encounter a business that was closed simply because they were having a slow night.
I'm sure the food and service would've probably been amazing, but we will never know. The unprofessionalism displayed by this establishment will stay with me for quite some time. I trust that all of the restaurant employees who left a full 2.5 hours before the posted closing time had an enjoyable evening. My wife...
Read moreIt is a small restaurant with seating for about 20-22 people. The chef and the wait staff are very friendly. I ordered their 300 g ribeye steak rare. It was cooked to perfection and delicious! No fussy sauces or other additions to hide any imperfections. Seasoned with simple salt and pepper. Just want the doctor ordered. I accompanied the steak with a house salad which was also really good. I also like my beers dark and alcoholic and they had the perfect one for me. The chef prepared the steak and followed up with me to check that everything was okay. It was excellent! The beer, the steak, the salad everything was on the money!
They were getting ready to close by the time I was done with my dinner. I stepped out for a smoke and realized I was out. Tried to buy a pack from the vending machine right outside but it wouldn't accept my card and I couldn't understand the language on the display. So I asked the waitress for help but instead the chef came out to help me. We figured out pretty soon that the machine was not accepting international cards. So he offered me one of his cigarettes. Hehe! Best service I've...
Read moreFriendly staff and a comfortable setting. We were in the courtyard in the evening, which was very nice. I had a very nice Bordeaux, plus of course a couple good beers.
I was less thrilled with the food itself. The starters were good, especially the sweet cheeses. The sides were mixed--baked potatoes were super as were the fries, but the fried potatoes were relatively bland and inconsistently cooked.
The steak, and therefore the focus of the evening, I found disappointing. I ordered the 200 gram Pfeffersteak "bleu." It was cooked closer to medium, medium rare if I'm being generous. I also found it a fairly tough cut, and the pepper crust ok but only ok.
I'd be happy to visit again, but honestly expect more from a...
