Hexenhäusle — Restaurant in Nuremberg

DRINK: I took homemade lemonade and personally, I would give that drink a 2 star only. I didn’t like it. It felt only very little lemon has been squeezed into a lot of water. So, it tasted very bland and weird.

MAIN COURSE: I ordered a classic dish from them: knuspriges schäufele mit dinkelbiersoße. It was VERY delicious. The knodel was also so good.

The meat was soooo well cooked, it was crispy and yet soft on the inside. Oh 😍. I would highly recommend it.

The sauce was complimenting the meat really well and so was the sauerkraut.

The knodel was soft and spongy. I really enjoyed the food! 🤤

DESSERT: I ordered Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce and it was also very tasty. Not too sweet - just as I like it. It had raisins in it too which was giving it a good taste. Soft. Also recommended. 😃

We went to this restaurant on 28/07/2024 and got food poisoning. There were 3 of us, we ordered 3 different dishes, and all of us got food poisoning. I was the first to feel sick, I spent the whole night in the bathroom with severe cramps. Shortly after, my husband, who even fainted, got sick, and my 70-year-old mother-in-law was the most affected of all. She was sick for 3 days, had to go to the hospital, receive IV fluids, and this consultation cost 230€! In short, it was a traumatic experience. I don't know what happened in the kitchen, but I read other comments about that day and I am sure it happened here. In short, an immense irresponsibility of the restaurant. Not to be missed!!!!! That just became the best meal I have had at a restaurant in my life, including some big names in the Washington, D.C. area. Though it is my first time having Schaufele, I have had many similar dishes growing up and this tops them all. Not only is the skin perfectly crunchy, but the fat underneath has incredible flavor and literally melts in your mouth. Ordinarily I don't care for animal fats, but i savored every bite here!

To top it off, the staff was as warm and welcoming as if you were a personal friend. And the location was gorgeous! Inside and outside they created a perfect blend of original charm with modern comfort.
