I was so excited — yet a little hesitant — when I stumbled upon this restaurant while searching for the perfect spot to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. On one hand, it’s rare to find a Japanese-style BBQ place in Germany that looks this inviting; on the other, I know how even rarer it is to find the same high quality of meat here.
To my surprise, it was absolutely brilliant — not just the meat, but the way the whole set was presented, and the atmosphere as well. Everything felt perfectly thought-out. Read moreI visited with two of my friends, and were fortunate enough to visit just as they had opened up their BBQ floor. Taking in mind that this was their first time, the service was at our table more often than at other places, to clarify usage and how they would recommend eating the dishes.
The food was great, plenty to eat among the three of us. We had to ask for extra explanation a few times, and they were expedient and friendly.
The menus at the table had English explanations in them, so it was quite easy to discern the food.
The desserts were a bit too powerful, and every single one of them had matcha. So if that isn't your thing, bear that in mind.

Udon: Texture is fine, but not much wheat taste and doesn't hold onto broth well.
Broth: standard, would like it to be a bit stronger if not to compensate for the Udon
Tempura: clearly been heat lamped for too long, somehow manages to be both soggy (outside) and dry (inside).
Wagyu roll: the concept is interesting but the fish overshadows the beef, and in the end I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be tasting. I would probably order something more...
