WARNING !!!!
Very Next to Zum Gulden Stern is Lebanese cuisine restaurant "Laventine". Lots and tasty but VERY EXPENSIVE!!! We wanted to get to Zum Gulden Stern with Franconian cuisine, but we inadvertently entered "Laventine" with an unmarked entrance. The sign was removed due to renovation of the facade (scaffolding). Zum Gulden Stern turns out to have an entrance on the side of the building and not from the front. It is clear that this is a common deception for tourists because we also heard e.g. Hungarian, Italian... The behavior of the woman indicated that they also ended up here by mistake. The restaurant is run by two brothers, who are clearly aware of this and take advantage of it by inviting tourists at the door so that they do not go to the neighbors of Zum Gulden Stern! Then they offer dishes without providing a menu!
And now the WARNING. Be careful, for a dinner for 3 people with Lebanese cuisine (2 meat dishes + 2 beers + 2 waters + potato salad + 5 mini cabbage rolls + a few dressings for Lebanese bread + a glass of aniseed Lebanese vodka) they charged over 200€!!!! 🤨 I can afford it, but some people might get shocked 🤯😱😲 so I'm warning you in advance!
NEVER go to this restaurant if that wasn't your original goal and you entered it by mistake !!!
I repeat once again, the entrance to Zum Gulden Stern is around the corner (on the left when standing in front of the building with the restaurant's name written on the wall of the facade).

Read moreDespite the satisfying food and the fascinating historical atmosphere, the waitress was completely unfriendly. She did not like first amount of which we had ordered, and she asked several times: "Is that all?" (This did not mean: "Is that all, What did you order?"). The food was again served in a rude manner. When it was time to pay, she pulled out the credit card reader. She covered the card touching area with the paper in her hand and showed the screen which showing the waitress tips menu “a kind of forced “ us for a tip, by pointing to the area on the device. I can say, that there are dozens of similar complaints about her on Asian social media accounts. I believe, such a historic place could be better off with much more professional and customer-oriented waiters. Waiters means not only, To take orders and bring food to the table; it is also about, To give the customer the feeling, welcome to be here. Even in a hospital doctor try to calm the patients and give them a sense of good vibe . But to be treated like that by a waiter in a restaurant . It was absolutely unpleasant. Even me, who usually doesn't comment any bad things and try share positive things always , I feel this time to let the know people what can be waiting for them with her , and there is absolutely no misunderstanding or anything like that. It is completely rude and intended...
Read moreLife threat for allergics. Beware. I'm a polyallergic subject, so I am always extremely careful when eating out. I and my husband arrived at 7 p.m., almost all tables outside were occupied, nobody was sitting inside. When we asked to sit inside we were told by the waitress that a very large group of customers was about to arrive and they would take up all the tables inside. No misunderstandings, I'm a native german speaker. We were surrounded by wasps almost instantly as our food arrived. As the restaurant was still empty, I asked to sit inside and the answer was "this is nature". The wasps fell into our drinks and we were refused a change nor discounted the undrinkable thing (3,80€ for a glass apple juice, I'd add). The waitress was extremely rude and as I was trying to remind her that I'm an allergic she shouted at me (was soll ich denn dafür? Ist nicht meine Schuld! - what do I have to do with that? That's not my fault!). Well, if it's "nature", then there are natural methods like wasp traps they could at least put out. I ate as fast as I could (clutch your epipen or at least keep it near if they make you eat outside!). We left (ah... I almost forgot, she was expecting a tip) and still, the "large group" which should have hoarded all the seats inside was nowhere in sight. Hope to forget this horrible...
