When I asked for a table I was motioned to “sit wherever you like”. This being Sunday lunchtime in spring, the only empty table had not been cleared but it was the only one so I had to sit there, though it was for six and I was alone.
The servers were no doubt busy but no one came to clear the table. I was quite prepared to wait, but then a party of 4 locals came to the table and in German VERY POLITELY asked if they could share the table. When I said they could have the table, they VERY GRACIOUSLY said I could sit with them. I know when I’m being condescendingly dismissed, so I left.
I’ve been in many cities in Germany, and during Covid-19 had to stay 3 entire months in Berlin. I am accustomed to Germanic manner, but I was offended by this restaurant, its servers, and the kind of people who dine here.
ADDED FOLLOWING THE RESTAURANT’S RESPONSE.
For those persons who didn’t understand what transpired:
The waiters didn’t bother to clean my table because it was just an Asian, who wouldn’t mind waiting while they attended to all the Germans first.
By the time that group of four Bavarians arrived, there were other tables available, but less attractive than the one that had been forced on me. The available tables were behind, while mine was closest to the river.
Instead of showing the group of four to one of the available tables, the waiters apparently permitted them to muscle me out of my table. These persons then made it appear that they were the ones doing me a favor by allowing me to stay
When they first approached my table these persons’ spokesman spoke lengthily in German. Therefore, though I am Asian, he clearly assumed I was some kind of immigrant rather than a tourist. Since I was “merely an immigrant”, they and the waiters saw nothing wrong with VERY POLITELY muscling me out of the...
Read moreThis restaurant was the place we chose to celebrate the birthdays of two of my friends. We made a reservation for 11 people and they told us over the phone that there was no problem. When we arrived at the restaurant they took us to the table and told us that they could not give us a table for 11 people because another group of people had arrived and gave them our reserved table. After we had worked it out among ourselves and sat 11 people super tight at a table for 8, the waiter came over to ask us what we wanted to eat. What we have to be honest is that at no time I received the treatment that one expects. The waiter was incredibly rude, very serious and curt. I really have to emphasize that the attention we received yesterday in this establishment is the worst I have ever had in my life and that is why I have to leave this review.
The food was actually very good in terms of portions, but from there in terms of taste, nothing very good because no one really finished their...
Read moreWe had a lovely hot summer evening dinner here. Beautiful location.
We were lucky to find a table! It was so very busy. I tried to order a table for 7pm but was told it was only possible up until 6pm. Very inconvenient when you want to eat and walk all the way with kids… The service was good, fast and friendly. I had a Brotzeit which was a lot of food but only two bits of bread weren’t enough for all the meat and sausage it came with. The kids meals were sufficient BUT I find it surprising and rude to charge for a sachet of ketchup (without even being informed about it before).
No fries on the menu unfortunately (difficult for some kids).
Prices overall ok.
There’s a small kids play corner...
