Trattoria Pane e Vino — Restaurant in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

This place is great!! I hesitate to write this review because I don’t want the word to get out about the amazing quality of food provided on the off chance I get to visit RodT again. I don’t want a huge line!! I do highly recommend this restaurant.

I like Italian food. The real stuff with handmade noodles and sauce. The kind you see in movies, but the chain restaurants and fancy chefs of Italy fail to provide. This restaurant took Italian food you dream of and planted it squarely in Germany.

My family and I randomly selected this restaurant. We walked in, and the restaurant is quaint, cozy, and quiet, and it feels almost like a home. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, a salad, pasta, pizza, and a dessert. The drinks options include soft drinks, cocktails, beer, and wine.

The bruschetta is fantastic, actually that is the word I would use to describe the entire dining experience. I felt that each pasta dish was specifically prepared individually to be fantastic for our family. The pasta (2 versions) were fantastic, and the dessert (creme brûlée and ice cream) were superb.

It’s hard to brag on ice cream, but this ice cream isn’t “normal” ice cream. It’s delicately and beautifully plated, and it’s flavor is another level. I dare say it’s better than Blue Bell. The creme brûlée is so creamy and smooth. It’s a perfect flavor, and they don’t char the sugar on top. They warm it to provide the perfect amount of crisp and resistance.

The pizza was also very good. It wasn’t on the same level as the pasta, but it’s worth more than the price.

I had a fantastic experience at Trattoria Pane e Vino! When I arrived, all the tables were marked as reserved, which initially made me unsure if I could get a seat. However, the host/waiter quickly appeared and was incredibly welcoming. He kindly let me know that I could sit and enjoy one of the tables.

I ordered the San Gennaro pizza, and it was absolutely delicious—fresh ingredients, great flavor, and a perfect crust! Overall, the service was friendly and the food was amazing. I had a very positive experience and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Italian food in Rothenburg...

Mio marito e io siamo vegani e, poiché in nessun ristorante di Rothenburg sembra prevista neppure un'opzione vegan, abbiamo deciso di dirigerci verso la pizza, che in ogni occasione ci «salva la vita»: essendo fatta solo di acqua, farina, lievito, olio e sale, è sufficiente chiedere di evitare il condimento col formaggio e il gioco è fatto. Almeno, così è successo in ogni pizzeria che abbiamo visitato fino a oggi. Perché, appena ho chiesto al proprietario di questa trattoria, se fosse possibile preparare due pizze vegane, mi ha fermato subito con un deciso «No!» Era talmente serio che pensavo che scherzasse, ma davanti alle mie esitazioni ha aggiunto, con aria perfino un tantino scocciata, come se mi stesse illustrando la più ovvia delle verità: «L'impasto della pizza è fatto con l'uovo!» Non riuscivo a credere alle mie orecchie! Vivo in Germania da cinque anni e non mi era mai successo di imbattermi in un impasto per la pizza preparato con l'uovo, neppure al supermercato. Non avendo altra scelta, ho chiesto allora una bruschetta al pomodoro, ma il proprietario, sempre più impaziente, mi ha fatto notare che: «Signora, il pane è fatto con lo stesso impasto della pizza. Anche là dentro c'è l'uovo!» Ho dovuto pregarlo per riuscire a ottenere un piattino di verdure grigliate e un'insalata. I miei suoceri, che erano insieme a noi e non sono vegani, avevano ricevuto un cestino di pane, e io ero talmente curiosa di provare il "pane all'uovo" che ho fatto uno strappo e ne ho assaggiato un morsettino. Quando il proprietario è tornato a raccogliere i piatti e ha visto il pane morsicato vicino al mio piatto, mi ha detto: «Allora, se non le avessi detto niente, lo avrebbe mangiato?» Insomma, se avessi avuto un'allergia alimentare, per questo signore sarei potuta...
