6/4/23 I like to start my reviews on a positive note before getting into the critical parts. So the food was enjoyable enough, it certainly wasn't bad by any means.
When biting into a burrito the feeling you're supposed to have is "omg, what the ** is this amazingness." That was not experienced here.
The spicy pork burrito was nothing to write home about - home for me being San Diego. I don't think the pork itself was spicy, I think they named it spicy pork cause of the sauce they used which was not spicy by any reasonable definition of the word. But I suppose we are in Germany and I've grown accustomed to not expect much of Mexican inspired cuisine here (Burritos are actually an American invention). Especially where spice is concerned. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of these spicy freaks who enjoy the pain, just good flavor. Even purely from a flavor perspective, the salsa was a let down. The brown rice was a bit bland as well, they had a lime seasoned rice that looked decent though. To name a few things I did enjoy, the tortilla, beans, and corn which gave a nice sweetness and change of texture.
I'm willing to go back to try the beef burrito, but as it stands my rating is: "I'd rather continue suffering from deprivation of Mexican food than eat here... But I suppose for those who don't know better, the place isn't all that bad and if my friends want to go then I...
Read moreSummary: Food is ok but quite expensive, staff incompetent and not very friendly and Wi-Fi slow.
I had eaten there regularly between 2016 and 2018 because it was very close to my workplace, the food was quite good, and they had reasonable deals. Most of the time, the food was quite good. However, I did experience a mild case of food poisoning once (which was cured by an extended stay in the restroom and a nap).
Sadly, the restaurant became increasingly expensive, and the staff became increasingly incompetent and unfriendly. For example, the price of a salad went from €5 to €10.90 in just six years (same size) – that's much faster than inflation. To cover this a bit, the posted selection is deliberately misleading, but the staff refuses to acknowledge this and only points it out during the order: "No, that's not included anymore... yes, it's part of the menu but needs to be paid for extra...". In addition, you have to repeat chosen options several times, since some employees apparently cannot even remember two ingredients in a row. Last but not least, the advertised free Wi-Fi is very slow.
The author of the response to my criticism seems to be one of the less competent employees: anyone who can do basic math will notice that the prices have increased by more than just...
Read moreFirst of all, I'm from Minnesota, which is about far away from authentic Mexican food as you can get in the States. So, I'm by no means an expert of Mexican cuisine with ridiculous, impossible-to-fill expectations. Despite that, I was very disapointed with the food here. If your hope is to eat at the Stuttgart equivalent of Chipotle, I guarantee you will feel the same. If you have no idea what Chipotle is, then I guess I can see how Burreatos may seem like a good idea or that you would even think it tastes good. If you know Chipotle, but think Qdoba is better, then Burreatos is just the place for your questionable tastes.
The restaurant itself is clean and the staff were nice enough, but the food was just such a letdown that I can't understand its high rating. I mean, my chicken burrito was made with boiled chicken (no chance to add nice a char-grilled flavor or use marinade), plain rice (at least could have some lime juice and cilantro), and black beans that I'm 99% sure came straight out of a can. That's just no way to make...
