1888 Athens — Restaurant in Athens

Any tourists who go to Greece - you must stop here! Their food was delicious and it looked like so much effort was put into it! When we were done, they surprised us with an orange cake that WAS ON THE HOUSE! The people there were so nice too - they kept asking if we needed anything at all. A great place to hang out. Their pictures on their walls were very pleasing to the eyes, and the overall atmosphere was great. If I could bring this restaurant to my town, then I would. I am not hesitating one bit to give this place 5 stars! Overall, I need to say that everyone who comes by needs to eat here. 1888 offers really quality food. They have a good selection of cold and warm food, but what it really stands out is the wine selection. Although we didn't try, the disposal of the bottles they had was really interesting. About our choices, the octopus bruschetta with fava paste was excellent (and probably even better with a glass of white wine), the eggs with tomato and chips was tasty and the fries were also good, just a bit oily for my taste. We read some reviews about the portions and the prices, but we were actually satisfied. The portion is enough, bigger than expected, and you pay for the quality you eat. Oh my goodness! What delicious flavours, And just could not get enough of the distinct and different aromas and subtle but amazing deliciousness! Lovely little potato salad with a pickle and dill crunchy yummy...then a wonderful lokaniko with mustard sauce and a pita topped with lovely superfine shred coleslaw Chicken with a tomato sauce and also yogurt sauce crazy delicious but the super star was a braised beef with pasta noodles and a lemon sauce...OMG it was one of the best things I have eaten in my 60 years!!
