Asylo — Restaurant in Athens

Quite a racist place. When my friends and I arrived there, we were told that it's full and we would have to wait outside for a bit. We didn't have any issue with this of course so we waited. Then when they heard that my friend and I were talking in Arabic the bouncer told us it is a private party, and that we weren't going in. We confronted them about our suspiciouns regarding them not liking that we spoke Arabic, and they wouldn't give us any explanation. Then when other people showed up, they told them to wait in line...but for us it was a "private party" and we were not going to get in. I wouldn't recommend this...

Asylo is a space on its own, with its own philosophy and people. I had a blast yesterday, visited around 1am and stayed until 5am, I didn't want to leave. Crowd and mood is amazing, owners, DJ and bartender, everything feels just right. You can dance the whole night away, until the morning. Reminds me a lot of Berlin. It also reminded me a bit of the Asylum in the game VtM - Bloodlines. Such a great dark feeling. I will definitely visit again. The dive bar you didn't know existed. Super hidden gem. Too packed during weekends better from Wednesdays to Fridays. Full of interesting individuals, you can find from the poet to the business owner, from the hot trans girl to the trashy techno styled girl. Anyone can be there and mix, it's a beautiful melting pot. People are chill, you can vape inside and generally their drinks are very strong. Real Athenian dive bar, peeps don't care there they just wanna have fun and escape their routine. Washrooms are cool but should be cleaner. Amazing place to be if you want somewhere...
