Winners Vegan — Restaurant in Athens

The food is AMAZING! Most places don’t use beyond meat for their burger patties, and that’s what I prefer!

It’s also very central to everything. It’s a bit expensive, but the quality is there. They use good ingredients, you can tell.

The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because everyone else was offered free tap water, but I was only offered paid bottled water. It wasn’t until I saw all the people around me and their table having the free water on their table, I confronted the waiter why he didn’t offer me this and let me know about them having it and made me feel like only paid bottled water was available when he offered me water.

When I confronted him about this, he said ‘it’s okay, it’s okay, yes we do have this tap water’. And walked away without resolving it, even though I wanted an answer for why he did that and was trying to continue the conversation to find out… so that made me feel ignored and that something was fishy.

Of course instead of paying a few euros for a small water… I would have wanted the free one. Thats the one that should have come out in the first place. First time I came across this, makes me think it’s a tactic to make a few extra Euros. Not sure. But it was not appreciated. Never experienced that anywhere else.

An explanation would have even been nice too when I asked for one. the way the waiter was ignoring the conversation, it was either he knew he was caught for what tactic was used, or that he did not speak much English and did not know how to explain. But I don’t think it was the latter as we conversed just fine in other ways.

They should really let you know when they’re offering water that both options are available if they’re so worried about serving tap water (which btw is clean drinkable tap water in Athens and every restaurant will have free water for you on the table).

But fantastic other than that experience! It was unfortunate that my mood did get a bit spoiled because of the small water happening And having to pay a few euros for the water…

And he shouldn’t have run away from the conversation. He should have made sure I was satisfied and understood the reasoning for his action. Not that I got one. I felt cheated, but was too tired to fight it. This could have all possibly been a misunderstanding too, but I can’t find out since he wasn’t willing to discuss or resolve...

Everything in this restaurant was SO above and beyond! Vegan food - off the hook!! We came from NYC where there is a lot of amazing vegan options, but at this place we tasted some of the best, most innovative vegan dishes ever. On day one, we ordered 3 dishes - Kale Tahini salad, Dynamite, and Miso Mushroom noodles. The next day - our final day in Athens - we ordered soup of the day (Banana Curry), Kimchi Rainbow Noodles, Indonesian Bowl, and a special for the day (Poke Bowl w Watermelon). I mean WOW! Amazing flavors out of this world - so delicious! I would describe it all as Asian fusion of far-and-wide magical delights! Staff was so incredibly caring and accommodating. My boyfriend has tree nut allergies - they were super willing to help us and offer suggestions and alterations for those dishes we wanted to try that had ingredients that didn’t work for him. So easy going, friendly and totally delightful. When we came back the next day they remembered his food allergies and made sure we got the right things without us even prompting them. I was looking for something with noodles but was in a mood for more vegetables, and without me even asking they offered to add a few vegetables into my noodle dish. To top it all off they gave us a free desert - Lemon Pavlova. I am not exaggerating when I say it was the best thing I ever put into my mouth. We actually felt like we died and went to heaven. We were left wishing to lick the bowl; it was embarrassing! This is what I call a winning restaurant. Unique gourmet dishes artfully presented, fresh ingredients, wonderful personable staff that anticipates your needs, cool design and centrally located - you cannot go wrong with this place. I always disliked the idea of being vegan since I was very restricted in terms of food options, Up until the night I visited WINNERS!

++ The LOCATION is very convenient as it is at the center of Athens, 2 mins walk from Sydagma square.

++ PLACE and INTERIOR are beautiful! Very nicely decorated place, with great taste of materials and decorations! it even has great Neon lights!!!

++ PERSONNEL were extremely friendly and helpful with anything we needed! Especially the owner, a great guy in his 30's, is there every day and night to serve every single customer with so much care, knowledge and love about what he does! ...take his advice on the food choice! ;)

++ Last but not least - perfectly tasty FOOD and delicious COCKTAILS! Home-made cocktails (like the ones in the pictures below) were great to accompany your food with! The food, both starters as well as main dishes, were ALL very tasty. Even for the toughest food critics, all flavours were combined in a peaceful and pleasant way that cannot leave you unsatisfied! Plus everything is ORGANIC!!! and don't miss out the BROWNIES at the end (picture below)!!!!
