Bartesera — Restaurant in Athens

Nice, cozy place in the center of Athens. Coffee and drinks were fine. Regarding the food menu, there are no vegan options. I had a coffee with plant based milk but no option for food as I am vegan. We were a group of 6 people, so we all had something to drink but since I couldn’t eat there I left in order to buy a falafel. I went back and I joined my friends while eating discreetly the last bite of my falafel. One of the employees approached me yelling that I could not eat souvlaki there and that they do serve food. I explained that I was just finishing my bite and I pointed out that they offer no vegan options. She insisted that I could not eat there even though we had ordered several other beverages and food. i want to note that it was a cold rainy day and that the employee was rude and handled the whole issue impolitely. If she was a professional, she would have apologised for the lack of vegan options. One of my friends asked her to apologise to me for her atritude but the employee kept yelling....

Vibe-wise it is on my top 3 bars in Athens. Bartesera is placed at the end of a narrow archy walkway which is on the side of the busier street. This creates the feeling of seperating from the loud city to enjoy your drink. The great selection of music, the choice of low lighting and the open roof (in the summer) create a unique atmosphere. Their selection of drinks is reasonable with plently of choices. On the negatives I would say that sometimes the staff might be a bit slow, although not always. I would also add that the music might be too loud but this is more of a personal thing. We went there with a party of 7 on a summer late evening. Two wonderful ladies were running the place who knew their drinks and were positively delightful. We had some cocktails, beer and a couple of pizzas. Everything was great and reasonably priced. The place was super cosy and I felt the whole time like we were sitting at some friend's backyard. The inside looked very cute as well and I am sure it will make a lovely spot for winter outings. The music was also very good. I am looking forward to go back there and I will when I get a chance.
