BOO! Athens — Restaurant in Athens

My friend and I went here during one of our last nights in Athens. We had a good experience overall - the food wasn't too bad and the drinks were nice. Its decorated beautifully on the inside and the bar up top is like a little getaway from Athens. Honestly the experience was good until the end when the brunette guy who was in charge of the payments took us downstairs to pay. He took the payment machine, showed us the total, then switched the screen to the tip screen where HE, the server, selected HIS OWN 20-25% tip and then showed us the screen with a payment of now ~13 euros more. Tips are earned, and even though we are American we did not appreciate the server selecting his own tip. I know that tips are not required in Greek culture. I found it very rude and distasteful. My friend was covering the tab for me to pay her later, so she just went with it but had I been the one paying, it would have been a different story. My friend was very uncomfortable after that and we regretted going here. 13 euros isn't the end of the world by any means - it's just the principle. We probably would've tipped him 20% anyway! Easiest 5* review I’ve ever left! We decided to come to this place because the decor looked very cool. Spiros was our server and he easily sat our group of 10 (including two children) on the rooftop. He helped explain the menu and gave us tips on what to order with a group of our size. Which was all delicious! We had edemame, dumplings, and lots of sushi including the chef deluxe, Boo rolls, and shrimp tempura. Everything was so fresh tasting! I also ordered the Haunted Apple which was a delicious nonalcoholic drink option!

What really set this place above was the service! We had a few spills, and Nick was super helpful with providing towels and making us feel comfortable and welcome! At one point, my daughter was crying and Nick came over to ask if there was anything he could do to help or make it better (so thoughtful) and then Spiros let both of my daughters pick shells out of the little pond they have on the rooftop. He also brought us digestive shots after dinner and brought two juices for the kids. Really, really above and...

Attenzione Pickpocket !!!

Last night's visit to Boo Cocktail bar was utterly disappointing and infuriating. My friend and I stopped by for a drink, expecting a pleasant night, but what we got was anything but.

Despite clearly stating that we wouldn't be leaving a tip, the waiter (the bald /short) had the audacity to charge us anyway, without our consent. It was blatantly obvious that he assumed we were naive tourists, ripe for exploitation.

Let me be clear: we had only consumed one beer each and were perfectly sober. The waiter's attempt to take advantage of us was not only disgraceful but also downright insulting.

What's even more concerning is the possibility that this isn't an isolated incident. It's likely that this waiter engages in similar unethical behavior with other customers, which is utterly unacceptable.

It's disgraceful that such behavior is tolerated at Boo cocktail bar. This experience has left me seething with anger, and I urge others to think twice before supporting an establishment that condones such...
