Da Panda — Restaurant in Athens

As a Chinese who is well travelled and from Sydney, where Asian food is everywhere… i think some dishes were very good. Better than expected for a little place in Greece. The portions were quite generous and the price was really reasonable (cheap compared to home).

The stir fried vegetables with rice was excellent which was a great relief as my vegetarian Chinese parents are picky eaters.

My husband’s stir fried beef noodles were good, not the best, but good. Tastes like 干炒牛河

My wonton noodle soup was a bit bland. The wontons were faultless. The soup let the dish down. They could have added more sprouts, spring onions and soy sauce etc. to boost it a bit.

I also ordered the salt and pepper wings which tasted great, though they didn’t look the best. It came out more like very fried chicken wings with heated sweet & chilli sauce on top. Regardless of the looks, it tasted great, crispy wings with enough sauce.

BIG WARNING TO ALL VEGANS! DON’T GO TO THIS PLACE! This was the third time I ordered something vegan but they put eggs in it, even though EVERY TIME I emphasized repeatedly not to use any animal products when I ordered the food. What’s really unacceptable was, after I showed them the eggs inside the noodles, they made a new one but there’s still eggs inside. I told them it’s not good that they only just removed the eggs from the old dish, should have made a new one, the team just waved me away and said “Just go, just leave please, you don’t need to pay!”, not even a sorry. They obviously have no awareness of the importance of food allergy and no respect for people. For a restaurant like this, I don’t know what hygiene standards they would operate on in the kitchen, so even if you are not vegan, be very aware!!! Don’t eat there for your own food safety!! As a NYer with very specific standards for Chinese food, I'm definitely no expert in "authentic" Chinese dishes, but I've struggled to find a good Chinese place in Athens that scratches the NY-style Chinese food itch. I'm not sure why I waited so long to try Da Panda - It's definitely the BEST for quick, quality, dependable takeout if you want staple dishes like lo mein, sweet and sour, or kung pao chicken. All the ingredients are super fresh and high quality, including their chicken, and the tastes are seasoned and spiced to perfection! Plus, their dumplings are spring rolls are not overly oily or soggy upon delivery - nice and crisp with the right dipping sauces, too. They are attentive to special requests like well done chicken or no eggs, and it's obvious their kitchen practices are super clean.
