As an Italian myself who visited almost all regions in Italy as well and tried amazing gelato: this is not authentic Italian gelato. The consistency is off and the sorbets flavor is not fresh enough, they may use syrups instead or real fruit or a mix of them two. Nevertheless, it's probably the best Gelato I have ever tried in Athens, at least for now. Avoid the pistachio one, to me, does not taste like pistachio at all, has more of a hazelnut kind of flavor, it’s giving nothing but cheap pistachio spread, sugar and cream. Try their ricotta gelato, try those flavors that may be more mainstream and popular. Generally, I would advise anyone who wanna try something similar to Italian Gelato to come here.
Also, I am not biased just because I'm Italian...I just can tell their quality is not the highest even if presented very well, through eye catching marketing, a neat store and on point interior design.
The customer service here is not the best, the girls are not very friendly and almost look at you bad. I mean...I get they are probably paid minimum wage...but please... just even fake a smile instead of looking judgy and sad. (I totally agree with some reviews mentioning this and the store should take immediate action about it).
Ah yes...this place is OVERPRICED. I mean...how is it possible that I can get a cheaper authentic gelato in Venice...don't use the card of "ehh but Venice is Italy everything is cheaper"...NO...fruits, sugar/stevia/fructose and gelato ingredients are actually more expensive in Venice (due to transportation) and still I'm paying more in Athens, Greece? It's a big no for the price. But still...I may come here sometimes if in the mood for above average athenian gelato.
PS. I'm a serial reviewer, if you liked what I've written and it helped you out choosing or not this spot, leave a like...

Read moreI visited for the first time since having first tried Le Greche in 2019. Having just come from Sicily, I decided to try the ricotta with aperol/bergamot and the mascarpone with dried figs. This combination was not the best (I should have had the Scicillian pistacchio instead of the mascarpone), but both were excellent! The mascarpone was buttery and mild, with a bit of fig for texture. The ricotta was very cakey (in a pleasant way) with the aperol giving a good background sweetness. But the kicker here (and I might be biased because I love bergamot) was the big pieces of candied bergamot! This alone was worth ordering this flavour.
My partner ordered a small cup of lemon mint and could not finish it, so I did. It was with this flavour that I was inspired to walk back in to the shop to tell the people behind the counter that their gelatos were outstanding. The lemon was very present and forward, with visible pieces of lemon peel (likely grated) and flecks of sweet mint that was the perfect counter to the tart lemon. I was astounded!
Do not miss an opportunity to...
