More than I expected! We stumbled upon this place by accident looking for a place to relax and recharge in the middle of the day. We were rushed out of a restaurant at breakfast time so out of an abundance of caution we wanted to be strategic about the next place we chose needing to beat the heat and get off our feet for awhile. I saw the Starbucks sign and wondered if they were the same as in the US. Which meant we would be able to get some drinks and snacks, relax and recharge our devices as well as our bodies. It looked like you had to upstairs into a hallway and I was really confused. Then a lovely lady seeing my confusion pointed and said “over there!” She’s my hero of the day! I stepped into the Starbucks which was so tiny I was initially disappointed even though they had snacks and drinks it looked like the only seating would be outside in the heat (not worth it). Then I saw it went further back and I saw seats and electronics? I was so confused… I wrapped around the area then went back out to tell my family putting the pieces together as I walked! I realized the Starbucks was part of a cute little mall that said it had a rooftop cafe. We took our time taking the escalator up to the 5th floor stopped and looked at video games, cds, and vinyls! When we finally got here and saw the bathrooms and free Wi-Fi signs we knew we’d found a great spot. This time we asked questions and observed a bit before ordering and assuming we could hang around for awhile. They have power outlets, air conditioning and an amazing view. You can sit indoors or out. We got a cheeseburger, American burger (had eggs, bacon and barbecue sauce along with the standard lettuce, tomato and onions), chicken burger (chunks of fried chicken) the chicken bao bun (2 buns), a lemon pie and an Americano (they bring you the coffee with the water on the side so you can dilute it to your preference). We all enjoyed our food. I didn’t care for the fries personally but they weren’t a part of my meal. There are so many options here I will definitely return next time I’m in Athens. Oh, and the view of Parliament and Syntagma square! Lovely relaxing place to have a meal, cocktail or a snack and stay awhile. I wish we came here for breakfast as well! It would have been a much better start to our last day in Athens.

MOMENTS: Definity recommended place for your afternoon chill out drink in a buzzling city center of Athens. This escape with an amazing view is definitely worth the price! MARia: Lovely cafe above the bookstore retailer Public. Panoramic view with possibility to seat on their terrace overlooking the Syntagma square and the Greek Parliament. Service girl was not that sympathetic, but I could see that male service was much more friendly :) I ordered a delicious variety tea which came in a large portion. Just enough to keep me warm during this rainy day ! MARcell: A “well-positioned” caffe/bar/restaurant on the 4th floor of the local book retailer. Busy waiters, fully occupied tables imply a great place - which sense if reinforced by the menu and the wooden ambience. Even without a view would be a metropolitan place to spend your afternoon siesta. I could imagine, with the double the size - it would be also full. I guess the limited place resulted in a higher-than-average price range.

If you are into rooftop cafes with awesome view then Public Cafe is a must visit for you. Great view of the Syntagma Square!!! Particularly beautiful this time of the year, as the Syntagma is all decked out for the holiday season. The interior is always beautifully and tastefully decorated with subtle elegance. Reasonably priced food! And enjoyable to the palette too! Service is great! Polite and courteous staff!

There is a short male waiter who was friendly with other tables but with me he seemed bothered. When it came to paying, I finally got his attention while he was filling water. He starred at me as I asked and rolled his eyes as he nodded. When he came he just stood at the table, no words. So I starred at him. He then asks if im paying by card. I respond with a simple yes, he walks away. Upon his return he points the machine at my head, about an inch away. I intentionally did not move or say anything, but waited about 35-40 seconds prior to asking if he was ready. He responds “yeah” and I told him using words is always a great way to communicate. Not sure what his issue was but he seemed communicative with other tables and did not show this level of insolence AT ALL. As a solo black woman I try to believe the best exists in people before thinking the worse but his behavior was disconcerting. I only came here because this is where you claim City Sightseeing beer and I had a dessert with it. Otherwise I wouldnt have wasted my time.

They do have a great rooftop view of the parliament building but...

My family and I received drinks tickets from the Hop on hop off bus. We went on to have these drinks and for my daughter to have a dessert. We arrived and gave three of our six tickets to a female server with glasses who took our drinks order and left. Another server took our dessert order and eventually our order came but without the complementary drinks. We asked for them and later they were served. We later gave the remaining 3 tickets for three more drinks...to the same server with glasses and again...we waited. We saw this server stand around and not do anything and serve other tables but our drinks didn't come. We asked again for these drinks and eventually they came. This server with glasses had the time to check her phone but not put in our drinks order at the bar. I wanted to order more but due to poor service I did not. I wanted to leave a tip but due to poor service I refused. The servers here move like they are on holiday....the customers walk faster. The dessert was good...and the drinks too....it was just very very...
