As a Japanese living in Greece , it's the first time I can actually say I've enjoyed Ramen. The torikotsu is super flavourful and has the deep umami richness of the broth and lard, balanced perfectly with the AJItama( the marinated egg) and the chashu on top. Now I personally come from Fukushima and Ramen and yakitori is our thing, so I'll be honest here I would get extra chashu! It's worth it.
Recommendations from last visit 9th July,2024
Ramen Torikotsu broth( if they have it) Shoyu broth ( if you prefer something a little lighter ) Both of the above are great Mazemen
Appetizers/sides/ other dishes. Beef tartare ( one of the best beef tartares in town) Iberico gyouza Caesar salad
Cocktails Negroni ( as per season they change) Highballs
Avoid! Not worth it Ebi fry ( They don't use big tiger prawns which are probably more suitable for such a dish) Beef short ribs ( falls flat on the pallet not exciting wnough to cost 19 euros a plate for such a good cut. )
For more details . Please read below.
I've been here several times but my other favourite on the menu is the Beef tartare. Mind you that the beef tartare may be written in Greek even on the English menu. But if you find it! Get it. It's probably one of the best beef tartare's there is in Greece. When it finally arrives at your table/counter , mix it well and put that meat on the nori crisp and put it in your mouth. My mouth is watering just thinking of it.
So as for food it's my new spot to go and feel happy. Or in other words I feel smiley emojis in my stomach.
Salad- go for the their Caesar! It's different it's fresh and delicious
Although one of the times I didn't like 2 of the dishes on the menu and I believe they would or I hope they do know why. But the Ebi Fry, and the Karé, I'm sorry but it's below par so I won't recommend those dishes . Otherwise This is a place where I find my moment of happiness with ramen.
Now as for cocktails
The highball mizuwari was good. In my opinion their Natsukashii negroni is something id recommend. Just the feeling of being in a spa without actually being there
The staff is super friendly and service is also great but due to the high demand I guess it can be a bit slow or tardy at times
Another thing is that It only opens in the evenings. Considering how long it takes to prepare all the things required I can understand. But as a customer I only wish I could havetheir ramen for lunch too.
I've been here for dinners, dates and even celebrated my birthday here, so just in case if you're planning to gather with your friends here for a delightful meal go for it.
Thank you chef Kodizas Masaji...
Read moreTanpopo in Athens is a culinary gem that offers an authentic taste of Japanese cuisine, and my recent experience there was nothing short of delightful. We visited the restaurant with high expectations, and the ramen we ordered truly exceeded them.
From the moment our bowls arrived at the table, the presentation was impressive. The broth was rich and aromatic, inviting us to dive right in. Each spoonful was a harmonious blend of flavors, with a depth that spoke to the care and skill put into its preparation. The noodles were cooked to perfection—springy and flavorful, they soaked up the broth beautifully while maintaining a delightful texture.
We also appreciated the generous toppings that accompanied the ramen. The slices of tender pork were succulent and had a perfect balance of fat, adding a wonderful richness to the dish. The soft-boiled egg, with its creamy yolk, was a delightful addition that elevated the overall experience. Fresh vegetables added a nice crunch, providing a well-rounded and satisfying meal.
The ambiance at Tanpopo is warm and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The staff was friendly and attentive, providing excellent service that made our dining experience even more enjoyable. They were happy to offer recommendations and ensure we had everything we needed.
In addition to the ramen, the menu features a variety of other authentic Japanese dishes, making it a great spot for anyone looking to explore the flavors of Japan.

The ramen we enjoyed was truly delightful, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and flavor. Whether you're a ramen aficionado or a newcomer to Japanese food, Tanpopo is sure to impress. Read moreThis place opened just a couple of weeks before we visited. We tried one of each ramen on the menu, the pork gyoza and the karaage chicken. The pork ramens were flavoursome with nice tender pork, whole soft boiled egg and heartwarming broth. Having tried quite a few different ramens in London though, I believe that the broth could have been more flavour-dense with more collagen. I would like to see more mushroom varieties in the pleurotus mushroom ramen, the spinach and sun-dried tomatoes though were a very interesting twist, adding colour and acidity (sun-dried tomatoes) that gave intensity to the dish. Unfortunately the broth was extremely salty and I could not eat much. I gave my feedback to the manager but they told me, it's due to the mushrooms that intensive saltiness...(??) for 14 euros it was a shame I could not finish my dish. The chicken karaage was very aromatic with herbs and a very tasty sauce, but the chicken inside was a little bit dry. The iberico pork gyozas were very tasty and cooked perfectly. The service was very fast and attentive. The restaurant was packed and fully booked with little space for walk-ins, it's better to book in advance if you want to visit. They take phone bookings while their website was still under construction and didn't take any online bookings at the time we visited (this option might be available in the future). The ambience was very nice, great music and minimal-japanese interior design. Overall it was a good experience, as they just opened a few weeks ago, I believe they have a lot of space for improvement, and I would love to go back after a few months and...
