While strolling through the vibrant streets of Athens, searching for an authentic Greek culinary experience, I stumbled upon a myriad of enticing options. Among them, one establishment stood out not only for its inviting facade but also for the incredibly friendly staff stationed outside—The Greco's Project.
My initial encounter with The Greco's Project was serendipitous. I approached a staff member to ask for directions to another restaurant. With a casual, confident demeanor, he pointed me in the right direction, adding with a smile, "You'll be back." At that moment, I didn't give it much thought and continued my exploration of nearby restaurants. However, after assessing my options, I found myself drawn back to The Greco's Project, compelled by an inexplicable sense that this was the place to be.
Upon my return, I was warmly welcomed, and my initial impression of the staff's friendliness was reaffirmed. Their genuine hospitality set the tone for what would be an exceptional dining experience.
The food at The Greco's Project is nothing short of extraordinary. I decided to try the chicken gyro, a staple of Greek cuisine, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and tender, complemented by fresh vegetables and a tantalizing sauce that tied all the flavors together harmoniously. Each bite was a testament to the culinary expertise and dedication to quality that this restaurant embodies.
Beyond the delicious food, the restaurant itself is impeccably clean, reflecting a high standard of hygiene that is both comforting and commendable. The ambiance is a blend of modern chic and traditional Greek elements, creating a welcoming environment that enhances the dining experience.
Price-wise, The Greco's Project is very reasonable, especially considering the quality of food and service provided. This balance of affordability and excellence makes it an ideal choice for both locals and tourists alike. Whether you're visiting Athens for the first time or are a seasoned traveler, this restaurant is a must-visit.
In conclusion, The Greco's Project offers an unparalleled dining experience in Athens. From the moment you step in, you are treated with warmth and respect by a staff that truly cares about your experience. The food is phenomenal, capturing the essence of Greek cuisine in every dish. For those traveling from abroad or on vacation, I highly recommend making The Greco's Project a part of your experience you...
Read moreSo the food is very tasty, in a commercialised kind of way. You can have a good meal here for sure. The service and overall experience left us confused.
We ordered what we thought was a platter for one to share between 2 people at around 14 euros. It was only when the bill arrived we realised we were given a platter for 2 at 32 euros. Admittedly, we got a huge amount of food (enough to take lots home for another meal). And it could easily have been an honest mistake. But really the waiter should have read back our order to be clear what we were getting. We really just wanted a snack and feels like we were pulled in to paying for a full meal.
On one hand the beer i ordered was truly superb (the Nymph), but then the sauces are all served in little plastic tubs and feel like they were swiped from McDonalds.
There is something odd about the way things are served. First thing our waiter did was give us water from a plastic bottle, from a champagne holder, served with one hand behind the back. Like we are in a fancy michelin star restaurant...but its cheap bottled water. Then, when we ordered the platter the waiter held is hand up to give me a high five! I have never seen this in a restaurant (apart from maybe in a film set in a fast food chain). This is such a fascinating mix that i cant stop thinking about it. Maybe this is a known thing with this place and i am missing the cultural reference points. It would be fun if it was...
Read moreMy friend and I were let down by our air BnB and had to carry our luggage with us to dinner before the new air BnB was ready. We explained this to the waitress and she showed empathy and let us put our suitcases between the chair my friend was sat on and the outdoor column and I believe there was also a fridge there. As she agreed we thought it was ok and sat down looking at the menu. Out comes another waiter which I assume was also the manager and starts having a go at her saying things like “they are blocking the other chair and I’m losing out on money” Keep in mind the restaurant was nearly empty but us and another two tables maybe. He comes over tells us we are blocking a chair from another table and without our permission grabbed our suitcases and moved them! We were both shocked. I asked if it was ok as the waitress said it was and he said no it stays here - here being on the outside where everyone walks by and could easily roll the suitcases away with them and run away with all our belongings. I tried offering other solutions like moving our chairs, moving to another table but he was insistence - that’s where we will be seating and that’s where the suitcases would go. He was extremely rude, showed no empathy towards us and put us in a situation where we could have lost our valuables in a foreign city. I suspect he has never learned the meaning of no, as we got up to leave and he swore...
