Upupa Epops — Restaurant in Athens

Visited on a September noon and enjoyed an excellent brunch! A very tasty pastrami sandwich with a sweet-sour chutney and a light-spicy mustard. The coffee served (freddo espresso) has a very nice flavour and the preparation must be careful because the consistency of the coffees (3 on our table) was excellent. The brunch was continued with a profiterol and some very tasty sweet pancakes (photo attached bellow). The pancakes were super soft and light and the sauces used created a delightful sweet taste that made a great contrast with the coffee. The garden outside is a very nice part of Athens in a very quiet street, dog friendly and very relaxing. The service was excellent with people wearing their best smiles and showing great care for us and our 4legged friend.

The space is formed from two houses and a store that were built in 1930. The renovation kept the old authentic character of the Athenian court with aesthetic touches from countries like Morocco and Mexico. The name name of of the bar is how the ornithologists call the the hoopoe. One of the most beautiful birds!!! At Upupa apart from the impeccable service someone can find small plates and amazing cocktails including the Amnesia which is one of my favorites!!! Came across this wonderful place when we arrived early for a play. We decided to have a drink and fell instantly in love with the atmosphere and the nice music! After the play we came back for dinner (as did many others) and were seated at a small table inside. Since we were there for food, we requested a larger table so as to have enough room for our plates. We were immediately taken to a larger table which had just become available!
