Greek philoxenia is an unknown notion to this business. A very sad and unpleasant experience.
Well situated cafe-restaurant right next to the Roman Agora (Hadrian's Library) NOT recommended though
The service is awful. The food is terrible. The prices are high (rather expensive for the quality you get)
But first and foremost,
We encountered the most unmannerly personnel I've ever met in my life. We sat there Saturday night for drinks and supper. When we asked them to clean the dirty table they didn't even bother. At some point they told us to pay the bill and five or ten minutes afterwards (once they had received payment) they abruptly and rudely let us know WITHOUT ANY previous notice that we had five minutes sharp to finish our food and drinks (!) because they were closing. When we complained that they should have informed us earlier what time they were closing they got extremely irritated (one member of the staff even started removing the chairs from the tables surrounding ours and banging them together one on top of the other while giving us angry looks -no comment here...) and they would argue that they had no obligation to wait for us making it perfectly clear that we had no other choice but grab our things and go. It goes without saying that we weren't handed any payment receipt either.
Bullying and insulting their customers AND robbing their fellow citizens through tax evasion, it really doesn't get any...
Read moreI don't know how anyone can rate this place negatively. I have the impression that people mistake this place for the place next door. Veranda is a great place with a family atmosphere, I am happy that I found it with my fiancée during our stay in Athens. We dined here almost every day for the whole week and when we visited two other places for a change, it ended in a disaster and a huge disappointment. We tried almost every item on the card. I can especially recommend the extremely creamy pastitsio with a brilliant taste, wonderfully seasoned arrayes, perfectly fried calamari, a meat board for two, where everyone will find something for themselves. They make great home fries. They serve great, refreshing house wine. The views and location are perfect. Friendly and smiling service. I don't know what more to ask for. A really...
Read moreOne of the rudest waiter I have ever witnessed. We waited so long for our order, and we usually understand because we also work in the tourism department. But after we had told the guy that we want to order because he was just standing there, he told us to calm down, after 5 minutes he came and threw the menu on the table and we told him we were ready and he left. He was incredibly rude when he came back. After he brought us our coffees he immediately gave us the receipt and told us to pay. We payed him and then we waited for like 10 minutes to get our chance and when I finally told him that we want our chance he said I should be patient. Never going back if this guy is...
